Only pub for miles around methinks - the nearby Terling Inn being boarded up. Ales here are served on gravity - on my visit there were two Adnams on offer. Opted for Best, first pint was very cloudy but changed without any qualms - they pilled aother from same barrel and this time acceptable - tasted OK. I'd been walking Essex Way (passes pub) and it had been lashing down all day, so good find. kernott1 - 23 Dec 2013 22:52 |
Sitting outside, in the small pub garden, when the sun is shining is, well, just peace and quiet - delightful !!! Ooops .... did I say pub ? We visited one Friday evening. Every table was laid out with cutlery and serviettes - not very encouraging for you average drinker ! So, I would venture to say that this is, in fact, a restaurant that serves beer ; not a pub that serves food. Attracted by the idyllic setting, I visited four times last year, and once more recently. Five beers drunk, four of which I rated poor to undrinkable. All this, and yet they won a CAMRA good beer award ? Amazing !!. Well, at least I persisted. REALALETY - 9 Jul 2013 13:19 |
One of the best pub meals I've had. Huge portions, proper pub food style and less of the gastropub nonsense that you get too much of nowadays. Lovely pub, not massive but nice decor, olde worlde style. Two real ales of which I had a Dark Star Art of Darkness which was cracking. Staff were nice and overall there was a really good atmosphere. Highly recommended. eastangliantour - 15 Mar 2013 12:28 |
A bit foody but friendy pub. Nethergate and Hammerpot beers direct from the cask. ed.spbw - 11 Jun 2011 20:41 |
Excellent exceptional food excellent wine and beer brilliant service, lovely hosts can't wait to go again, I don't live anywhere nearby but it is top of my list for all pub/retaurants. try Vic's own port - you will go away with a bottle. HSBplease - 31 Mar 2011 15:12 |
