The pub is in the middle of a rock and a hard place out on the dual carriage way between villages full of pubs, so what do you do to make a success, well turn it into a restaurant- this is what this pub has become-not a bad thing but annoying all the same. Food is good, service welcoming, beer range very limited but well kept, ambience of a restaurant which i find too tame to tempt me other than the occasional lunch - but food is where the money is so ce la vie darn it.

Agree with previous contributor 100%. Popped in having walked to Bladon and Blenheim Palace grounds. Lovely pub, good range of food for all tastes and well priced for the area. Excellent pint of Hooky Bitter, and staff all helpful. Dog welcome in garden which is at front overlooking dual carriageway, but hey, the sun was shining.

Stopped here for an early evening meal before attending a meeting nearby. Pleasant decor, guest beers on offer Hooky Bitter and London Pride. Hooky very good, well kept. Good menu, something for everyone. Tempura prawns with chilli dip for starter, bit surprised when it came with brown bread and butter but good nonetheless. 8oz sirloin steak for main course which I asked for rare. Cooked to perfection, superb flavoursome meat (sourced locally). A pleasant visit and I shall return. Recommended.

The Royal Sun has been under new management for 3 months, now. It has been extensively refurbished & redecorated, & bears little resemblance to what went before. The menu is very good, especially the Sunday Roasts, which are great value. Andy & Debbie Jones are professionals who aim to run a pub with a traditional welcome. I've known them for 10 years, & used to frequent their previous pub in Standlake before the rent skyrocketed, & they moved on. The Sun has no juke-box or pool table, but the beer's well kept, food's ecxellent & the welcome warm. Worth a visit nowadays.
