As noted, it's now more of a gastro-pub so feels obliged to trade under the silly name of the Picked Ploughman. 2 real ales on offer: Ringwood Razorback (pleasant but not exceptional) and Young's (ordinary) Bitter which was a bit iffy. Both rather expensive. Clean and pleasant establishment. Food was good - as it should be for the price. There's nothing fundamentally wrong with the place (other than the renaming perhaps) but I won't be rushing back. Mike_Oxford - 17 Jan 2019 20:41 |
This pub is now called the Pickled Ploughman. It is primarily an eating establishment these days. But it still do a couple of real ales. On my Tuesday evening visit, there was Sneck Lifter & Mad Goose. A few of the staff were gossiping at the end of the bar, whilst another group sat at a table were the only others in. But I suspect it was much busier earlier in the evening whilst dinner was being served. Has a thatched roof. blue_scrumpy - 8 Apr 2016 20:07 |
This is a note rather than a review as it based on one short visit. Very quiet, about 9pm, staff and landlord seemed friendly enough. Only one beer on, Bombardier, not bad but I didn't want a second. Menu looked ordinary but that's all I can say about the food. No rating but on the poor side of OK. Runningdog - 11 Sep 2009 20:05 |
Dropped in for a pint and lunch. Place was full of families eating. Beer was OK (Chas Wells). There were only a couple of vegetarian options on the menu, which is surely unacceptable in this day and age (I want to see at least ten things on offer). Having said that, what I had was good. twm_sion_cati - 6 May 2009 11:07 |
