Another pub I visited in June.

The pub is right between the castle and the truly magnificent cathedral. As a result, I expected a somewhat more historic look and feel and vibe about the place. However, inside its quite modern, bright and airy and spread over a few levels.

I'd just walked up the aptly named 'Steep Hill' so was looking forward to a pint. Had a Pedigree which was fine but not exceptional. I was driving so couldn't have more, but if not quite my sort of place it was perfectly fine for a quick pint. Service was friendly and efficient but it was pretty quiet with only half a dozen or so punters in so far as I could see. Gents were clean and decent size which is always welcome!

Probably been refurbished since Barrow Beer Hunter visited. Range of 5 from the Marston stable and appeared to be one of the cheaper pubs in Lincoln.

Marstons pub at the top of Steep Hill (You will be ready for a drink after the climb!) If you get a seat outside you have the castle to the left and Cathedral to the right. Marstons pedigree, Wychwood Hobgoblin, Jennings and Banks's Black Diamond Ruby beer. Slightly tired inside, but staff friendly and food seemed okay.

Busy Marstons pub at the top of Steep Hill. It's got a prominent location, that will always ensure it has trade and the interior is fairly pleasant. It is modern and split level, but not a bad place to have a pint. The only problem is the restrictive ale range - Jennings Sneck Lifter & Cumberland Ale, Wychwood Hobgoblin & Brakspear Bitter.

Pretty 'identikit' chain pub. A good range of ales, but service was lax. I shouldn't really need to have to ask for a top-up if the top quarter of the glass is clearly froth, and I certainly don't expect a dirty look for asking. Food was OK.
