Loved it... A Samuel Smiths traditional pub with great, really well priced beers in an amazing location... it's easy to miss, so keep your eye out.. mobiles, tablets are banned.. this is a real deal boozer... try the old brewery ale... to die for.., A few locals weren't so keen on this pub, but I enjoyed it... I have passed this pub on several previous visits to Lincoln barely noticing it exists, however once entered, this place is a little gem. It is a Sam Smiths pub, offering hand pulled Bitter and numerous others from their stable on electric pump. The prices, as usual with this brewery were very very good, especially when factored in to the building itself. This is situated on the climb from Lincoln city centre to the castle and inside is bright and relaxed, all adding to a great atmoshere, with customers both of a mature age as well as plenty of students. Upstairs has a great setting, with a large old beamed ceiling whilst the rear has a small viewing point where you can look down into an old well. Great pub that will not be overlooked next time I visit. SouthYorkshireman - 19 Jan 2014 18:05 |
You can easily pass by this pub as the front looks like another shop, and the sign is quite high up. Once inside it is furnished in a slightly clinical style which gives it an odd atmosphere. Upstairs lounge is pleasant but steep stairs make carrying drinks a mission! One thing that always makes me laugh in Sam Smiths pubs (this is not a criticism of this pub alone) is the 70's style taps and pumps on the bars. This gives the whole bar area a dated feel in my opinion. However beer quality ok and a pleasant fire in the winter months. manx_888 - 31 Jan 2013 16:57 |
Good little pub. Staff perfectly OK and other customers chatty. Sam Smith's in excellent condition and well served (and unbelievably inexpensive). I appreciate the previous reviewer obviusly doesn't like Sam's beer, but it's ridiculous to say "automatically undrinkable"! martyngs - 23 Aug 2012 09:23 |
It's Sam Smiths, so automatically undrinkable. kitconway - 13 Aug 2012 20:07 |
