Ok well arriving at this pub and it''s great views. We thought we would get a spot of lunch as a lot of people rave about it, well it''s good but I wouldn''t say amazing. There seemed to be a lot of 20 somethings working behind the bar and loads of laughter in the kitchen and they didn''t seem thst interested in the job just the wage at the end of the week. An older person in charge or a leader might give this pub some direction. The beer was above average. Overall this could be an amazing pub but it''s lacking.

Got to within 1/4 mile of the pub in July, only to find it was closed because of fire damage. Its' a real shame, but it would have made it more tolerable if someone had put a notice near the main road.

Oh dear, what a let down...we waited well over an hour for our food, when it arrived, one of the main ingredients was missing from my wife's dish (prawns) a lot of the dishes contain baked beans (cheap bulking) and very indifferent staff......add that to the expensive prices, it equals very poor value for money....shame really, it used to be quite nice.....oh, and if you have the surname of someone famous, the staff will make fun of your surname.

This is a lovely old pub in a glorious setting, no idea why it isn't reviewed more. The beer is good - St Austell - and they have a big wine list. The setting - right on the creek - is its biggest selling point. You can even drink your beer ON the water, from their big pontoon. This isn't a place for a cheap snack, it is obviously aiming to be a foodies pub... and having said that, I thought the food was excellent. Fresh, imaginative, lots of fish and shellfish as you'd expect. It's on the SW Coastal Path, so a great place to sit, nurse a pint, and watch the world go by. Avoid high summer... very busy! They even have their own ferry service during the busy season.

Fantastic setting and as popular as ever. However, not at all to my liking. Poor, slow, offhand service; very overpriced and pretentious food. Decided to have a basic fish & chips - the greasiest I've ever had. A pub I'll avoid for a good while.

As far as location goes, this pub has it. Visited here on a cold but clear early March evening, with a perfect moonlit sky and swans swimming on the creek. Good menu, if some of it a little pricey, everything we had was spot on though. Nice pint of St Austell Tinners, harder to find than Tribute and a decent alternative. Will be back in the summer if can get anywhere near it, have tried and failed before and I now know why!

Stopped here for a snack lunch on a Saturday in early March, so not too busy, although the car park was full. Idyllic setting, with views from terrace over Restronguet Creek. Soup and sandwich lunch good quality and generous: not cheap, but about par for the area and the location. Friendly service.

Fantastic setting. Food average at best - not bad but doesn't command the prices they charge for it. One barman was friendly, the other downright obtuse. Drinks were fine, not a great deal of choice mind.

Fabulous. Atmospheric pub, great menu including locals. Fabulous location on the water/ floating jetty. Good food service. Bar service painfully slow though.

We had lunch here when on holiday in Mylor for the week. Its an idyllic location and perfect to call in at if you are in a boat! We sat outside as we had the dogs with us. I had a glass of house white which was perfectly chilled and my partner a pint of Tribute (he'd go back for that alone!) We had prawns to start which were a little disappointing, they were mushy and didn't taste fresh - the fish pie was lovely though and made up for it and the blackberry apple pasty with clotted cream was delicious. A really lovely place to chill out for the afternoon in the sunshine. Would visit again if we went back to the area but would avoid the prawns!!

Been here loads of times over the past 30 years when in the area-even had Sunday lunch on our 30th wedding anniversary just before Christmas 2006. Must say that we find the service good and friendly, prices for evening meals are Ok but apart from that Sunday lunch its not cheap for a lunchtime snack with ploughmans at 8.95 and Jacket potatoes over 7. Wonderful location and still enjoyed our liquid only visit last week.

Good pub to go to out of season when the crowds have gone.

Must disagree with the post from 13 Apr 2007 - the waiting staff are perfectly fine and and the fodd is NOT overpriced; futhermore, the food is very good, as is the beer. Most of the outside seating is on a mini-pier going out into the river - lots of tables available.
Only thing was that the bar staff were thoroughly rude and miserable (the waiting staff were fien though).

I have been here many times. All the times I was around Truro. Very nice atmosphere, great "salsicce and mash", good beers and great chance of a walk over the water. 10+ !

This pub is typical of many that are situated in the best positions, i.e. waters edge. The food is overpriced and the service is appalling. This is one of my locals and I tend to go only when it is nice weather. Have eaten here several times, but each time I am always slightly disappointed. There is a nice roaring log fire in the winter, which is welcoming, but the staff are always a little 'off'. You need to arrive very early after opening in order to get a parking space in the summer, or forget it, unless you arrive by boat. Great sitting on the pontoon in nice weather. The only drawback here is it is situated too far away from the pub itself.

A beautiful pub with an exquisite location. Sitting on the pontoon with a few pints is a lovely way to spend a few hours on a sunny September day. It's definitely on our list of places to go when we holiday down in Cornwall.

Beautifully situated and, indeed, beautiful pub. We had a good walke around the headland prior to visiting and sat out on the jetty. Though it's a St Austell's Brewery pub, not my favourite, the HSD was good. My friends also enjoyed the food
