No proper ale in sight - and drinks overpriced enough to put me off popping in unless going for dinner. Food is pretty good though; enjoyed a pretty decent attempt at moule-frites on my last visit.

Nice terrace, you don't need to go in through the hotel I found. Good for a stroll or a bike ride down by the river and then imbibe something sitting overlooking the Thames and watch the boats go by. I am allergic to speed. This is a good place to be.

Lovely on a summer's afternoon/evening on the terrace- drinking a beer and watching the rowers as the sun dips down over the Thames.
The pub however is as soulless as they come.
|
The bar's actually called 'The Edge', and its a cool, chilled-out kind of place with muted lighting and spacey music literally overhanging the Thames. Lovely stuff.

Went to 'The Edge' last night but the only 'bitter' they served was John Smiths Smooth so I ordered a Guinness instead but was told they'd run out of it. No bottled bitter available either. I think this is the first pub I've ever been in with no choice of bitter - why? don't us bitter drinkers count? I don't drink lager or cider so we left and won't return. Shame really, as sitting outside by the river, enjoying a drink with my wife was very appealing!

Hey, don't worry about 'The Mitre'.. check out the rather trendy downstairs bar 'The Edge' next door. Right next to Hampton Court bridge (on the Thames). On a hot day, venture out the back to the beer garden, or better still if you can get a seat on "the deck" right on the rivers edge, you can watch the boats and Henry Hooray go by, sipping cold Pimms..! EXCELLENT venue! You can't beat this scene in the sun anywhere for miles around! Yes, do remember your cheque book, but for that one-off special occasion, its gotta be worth it. And judging by the few reviews, not too many people seem to know this little 'oasis'... or maybe they're just not letting on about it..!! Crafty Hamptonians!! Luvvit here! TJ

Agreed, The Mitre isn't cheap, but if you decide to go there, you are hardly expecting a 1-a-pint Working Men's Club, are you? And it's not uber-expensive, either.
In my experience, you generally get what you pay for. There can't be many better locations around London for a balmy summer-evening drink than the riverside decking/patio.
Service was good, staff were friendly and the place was clean and tidy even at the back end of what I guess was a very busy day (a mid-summer Thursday with the Hampton Court Flower Show in full swing over the road).
Yes, the inside looks a bit Hotel-lobby, but that's hardly surprising, is it? And in the winter, when the outside is off-limits, I imagine it does lack atmosphere. But on last night's evidence, I couldn't fault it. Well done.

Rather soul-less bar but lovely riverside seating on outside decking platform make this worth a visit. Good service although the waiters couldn't make us any coctails! Nicely made jug of Pims did the trick instead though.

Really nice looking bar. Quite trendy. Good view over the river. Just NO atmosphere whatsoever! Maybe it's the location? - A bit 'nowhere'...

Amazing what a bit of nice weather makes! 4 months ago I slated this place. Last night it had a real nice chilled sunset atmosphere sat out on the terraces by the river. Superb.

I'm sure a mortuary would be more exciting than here. Admittedly pleasant enough to look at, but no atmosphere at all. Ok on a long summer night to sit by the river, but 10 months a year the place is dead. Distinct lack of nice drinking venues in Hampton court. Niche in the market.

Not really a pub pub, more a resturant with various evening events going off e.g. comedy nights and such like. Attached to the hotel so convenient if staying there. You might be better off by crossing the bridge to the pubs on the other side, where there is a good choice.
