The three ales on our visit were the said Doom Bar, Atlantic, and a robust, darkish bitter from Trumans. They're a welcome sight in an otherwise Irish-style pub.
It's a relaxed, cheerful, quality local, located on the slope of Telegraph Hill.
Does anyone know the semaphore for “come to this pub”?

First impressions were that it was a quirky sort of pub with a character of its own. It was a Monday. Looking round the pub you could see that someone had put a lot of effort into decorating it for Christmas. I got there first and had a drink while waiting for the others to arrive. When they did arrive we chose a big table near the window and had a couple of drinks before ordering food. The meals were served at our table in the bar. Considering there were eight of us, the meals came out quickly and the service and food was perfect. Although it is a long way from our home I feel sure I will try this pub again.

Forgot to mention ... why is this pub listed as New Cross, when it's only about 300 yards away from Nunhead train station??
|
Excellent free house, serving Staropramen and hoegaarden on draft. No decent ciders though.
A very high standard of live music most Saturday nights.
Thai restaurant in the beer garden out back serves lovely dishes at a very reasonable price. Worth a visit for the food alone. Sunday roasts don't look very nice though.
Got to be one of the best pubs in the Nunhead/New Cross area.

Nice'ish pub. Pool table, jukebox, friendly atmosphere and nice little patio area. Great Thai restaurant attached at the back.
Not great for beer lovers - tend to have flowers on tap, but no decent ales.
Other than that, does what a pub does...serves drinks, keeps people mostly happy!

Best pub in the area - Thai food, good atmosphere, good beer, really nice garden for smokers

This place is great. The beer garden is now a lovely restaurant with quite outstanding Thai food at sweet prices, and you can get your own drinks from the bar. And keep your seats after eating. We were serenaded by punters & staff & eased out in no hurry through swathes of trailing flowers. Loads of well-kept Belgian beers- I have to admit I didn't try the bitter.A green gem of a pub.

I Heart this pub, and its got a Thai restaurant out the back that sells drinks for the same price as in the pub except they bring them to your table and you have to buy some (extremely nice) food as well.
Best food in New Cross in a pub by a mile.

This is a great little pub, very friendly atmosphere. They have just re-done the garden which looks great, and have opened up a Thai restaurant out the back. You can still order food in the pub too.

it sells rizla's, has a jukebox and serves a great pint
need anything more from a pub?

Great local boozer. Good group of locals, always has all the sport on on two big screens. It has pool, darts, beer garden. Everything you want from a local.

I had a pint here on Saturday and I liked it. The band were alright, didn't try the Thai fud, but y'know every pub has to have a Thai fud stage in its existance, and it seemed like a decent local. So there.

This used to be a great pub. However, the ownership has now changed hands and standards have dropped. The new landlord seems to be trying to hard to add entertainment to the pub which wasn`t needed & in doing so has made the pub very tacky.

This pub has gone down hill since being taken over. From going from a friendly no frills boozer to having terrible thai food, bands four nights a week and a general pikeyness of the clientele.

Still as good as ever. Now renamed Skehan's though.

This pub has great locals, great regulars and GREAT music! If you ever get the chance check out a night when John and Adam are playing. The thai food is better than most resteraunts I've been too as well!

Great bar, friendly, good beer, good jukebox, good variety of football / sport on the tv, decent live music. Best pub for miles round this way!

Great little gem of a pub hidden in the back of New Cross & Nunhead borders. Very lively predominately Irish Bar,good mix of Thai & English Food.Exellent mix of locals & students.Pool, juke box and beer garden. Very much what the center of New Cross lacks. And Brians Quiz nite on Tuesday has to be seen to be believed.Defo worth a visit!

Irish pub with live music and frequently shows Irish sport. Can be a little cliquey and a bit of a working man's pub during the day. Beer garden is concrete.
