The three ales on our visit were the said Doom Bar, Atlantic, and a robust, darkish bitter from Trumans. They're a welcome sight in an otherwise Irish-style pub. It's a relaxed, cheerful, quality local, located on the slope of Telegraph Hill. Does anyone know the semaphore for “come to this pub”? Hulots_hat - 16 Feb 2018 11:12 |
First impressions were that it was a quirky sort of pub with a character of its own. It was a Monday. Looking round the pub you could see that someone had put a lot of effort into decorating it for Christmas. I got there first and had a drink while waiting for the others to arrive. When they did arrive we chose a big table near the window and had a couple of drinks before ordering food. The meals were served at our table in the bar. Considering there were eight of us, the meals came out quickly and the service and food was perfect. Although it is a long way from our home I feel sure I will try this pub again. Forgot to mention ... why is this pub listed as New Cross, when it's only about 300 yards away from Nunhead train station?? Pat_Bateman - 5 Feb 2010 15:24 |
Excellent free house, serving Staropramen and hoegaarden on draft. No decent ciders though. A very high standard of live music most Saturday nights. Thai restaurant in the beer garden out back serves lovely dishes at a very reasonable price. Worth a visit for the food alone. Sunday roasts don't look very nice though. Got to be one of the best pubs in the Nunhead/New Cross area. Pat_Bateman - 5 Feb 2010 15:23 |
Nice'ish pub. Pool table, jukebox, friendly atmosphere and nice little patio area. Great Thai restaurant attached at the back. Not great for beer lovers - tend to have flowers on tap, but no decent ales. Other than that, does what a pub does...serves drinks, keeps people mostly happy! philknox - 22 Aug 2009 17:53 |
