A great venue: cider pub on an old dutch barge. A range of around 8 or so local ciders on pumps. No draught ales but happy to forgo a beer to drink cider once in a while.
Friendly atmosphere and popular with a young crowd of punters, and reasonable prices given the location. A simple choice of various types of ploughmans to complement the cider.

Great Idea this - Cider on a barge !!
In the City centre, and just a short stroll from the Old fish Market, this has to be visited if you fancy a good cider whilst in Bristol.
The prices were surprisingly reasonable (around 2.50 per pint for some), and there were about 5/6 to choose from which is good considering the size of the bar they have available. The atmosphere was good, and a visit won't dissapoint.

Its a cider house on a boat, you can see how that is enjoyable. Good breadth of ciders on offer here, as well as bottles of beer for people who dont drink the strong stuff. Only fault is that the music can be a bit loud and heavy during daytimes when people are trying to have conversations. Other than this, well worth a go.

Been here a couple of times and never been disappointed. Good range of ciders well kept on tap. Plenty of space on the upper deck and on the dockside if the weather's nice (can imagine it getting a bit packed inside if raining!)

A cider barge conveniently situated at the end of King Street. Theres a reasonable sized bar on the lower deck, outside seating on the top deck which is surprisingly warm thanks to the heaters and plastic curtains. Its nicely done out with a good view over the docks and a few fairy lights strung around which give it an attractive look. Theres also a small amount of outside seating on the dock side.

It seemed to be full of students on a recent Wednesday night. Im not sure if thats the norm or not, it may have been busier than usual as it was St. Patricks Day but they also appear to do some type of discounted drinks deal for students.

This is very much a cider house, in fact Im not sure there was a beer on offer. Half a dozen or so ciders are chalked up on a board, and theres a good selection of bottles as well. On this occasion the ciders on tap included the rather pleasant Happy Daze, Thatchers Traditional, Janets Jungle Juice, Hecks Sweet, and the Old Bristolian which is only served in half pint glasses. I was expecting something similar to the Exhibition from the Coronation Tap, but was a bit disappointed with this. It has a distinctly sherry like taste to it.

A neat concept mirroring the grain barge further up the dockyard system (btw it's a nice walk between the two if you stay dockside).

It does have a couple of drawbacks - the bar is stupidly small for such a large potential capacity and the food is too expensive. The interior also seems rather gloomy to me, whereas the Grain Barge does well at letting the light in.

However if you're after an interesting cider in interesting surroundings (there's dockside seating available as well as inside the boat itself) you could do worse than come here for a couple and then pop over to the Orchard for a late evening session.

busy on friday night , when a lot of places seemed quiet , problem is i'm not an applehead , not bad ,but almost like a clifton bar ,at the bottom of King st , i 'd prefer the cotham porter store's , if I had to drink glyder.

Great pub. I'm a beer drinker myself, but when in Rome.... Great range of lovely ciders. I'm sure you can get them cheaper down the road at The Orchard, but the prices are by no means extortionate - 2.50 for a pint of Thatchers Dry - lovely job. and worth every penny for the location when it's sunny. Bit cramped downstairs when it's not, but all seems ok after after a few pints of Thatchers. :-)

Excellant place - but haven't been there for months. I would advise that you check the opening times though because the last time I went there to meet a friend in the afternoon it was closed and not due to open until 5pm. (This was about 5 months ago.) But I checked their website today and it says they open at 12pm!

Nice place, nice location, great drinks. So what's wrong with it then?

Rip-off pricings is what! Better part of 3 a pint for most ciders when you can simply pop around the corner to the far superior Orchard and pay 1.85/2 for exactly the same pint of Thatchers/Hecks/Richs etc, etc. Food? I ordered a pie, a little pie at that only then to be told that each addition to said little pie would be a further 1. So yes would I like peas? 1 please. Gravy sir? 1 please. Mash sir? 1 please .... and so on. So a little plate of average pie, mash, gravy and peas being the better part of a tenner for a lunchtime's snack - Are they having a laugh or what? Forget trendy places like this there are far better cider outlets in the area with far more *real* character (Orchard - Hannover sq, Blue Flame - Nailsea) and people in attendance and where they don't take the mick over pricings and you won't need to take out a mortgage simply to pay for dinner and a pint!

It's ok. The bar is far too small, they should have stretched it along one of the walls rather than cramping it up in the corner. Lovely ciders, good variety, and plenty of room upstairs and in the area outside. Really going to come into its own in the summer.
I also saw the band Kosheen drinking here, not sure if that's a good thing!

Innovative. Very innovative. A model of how to breath life into the pub 'concept' without forgetting that conviviality and atmosphere are what really matters. And the drinks? An ever-changing array of fantastic ciders.

The most original pub I have visited in some time. Bristol already had the most diverse selection of great pubs and now it has another.

I like the Apple. It does lack space, especially on Fridays/Saturdays, but makes up for it with a great selection of cider and friendly vibe. Just ddon't have too much Old Bristolian! The bar staff are great, too.

Great Cider pub on a boat at the end of King Street near the Victoria Bridge. You can sit upstairs on the deck which is covered by a rain shelter or downstairs in the slightly cramped bar. This is a great pub and if you are a cider drinker it is an essential visit. If you do not like cider then there is not much point visiting as they serve absolutly nothing else. It is on a boat, but the boat is moored and the river is calm as a mill pond.

popped in here the other day nice pint if cider

A brilliant new pub/bar on a barge that sells FORTY ciders. Truly a cider drinkers heaven.

Friendly staff, and excellent food (pieminister pies)....what more could you want?

Well, a later licence would be good. They serve until midnight at the weekends, although by that time you've probably had more than enough scrumpy...

Very crowded on a Friday/Saturday, but you can't blame them for being so darned good!

This is now my favourite ever pub.

A boat in the centre (near King Street and Welsh Back).

Sells 40 odd ciders - about 30 bottled, and 10 or so draught.

Tried Riches, Weston Rosie, and another (can't remember).

All as agricultural as I remember, but, like many places, possibly not realising that unless it is absolutely fresh, it needs to be served at really quite a low temperature.

Bottles were varied, and my chums gave the thumbs up.

Went early, but apparently quite lively later on.

Fairly new, and deserving of our support, I would say.

Pieminister pies, if you like that sort of thing.

Agreeable staff.

Also plenty of rums, and a lager pump.

Needs a review from later in the evening, and/or the weekend.

Definitely worth a visit.
