5 ales available on our recent visit, large covered beer garden. I indulged in Shropshire Hills Beauty, [a decent ale].

Helpful barman, pleasant pub, 6 real ales on. I had Adnams 'Mosaic'.

Location, location, location - Perfect pub. Riverside setting, lovely garden, nice restaurant and decent beer - including a fav Timothy Taylor - which is always on.
For these pleasures, you pay a premium. I never noticed how expensive a pint was (in comparison to the competition). £3.85 is almost London.

Can't fault this pub. Good choice of lager, dog friendly, welcoming staff and friendly locals

Keeps the pub & restaurant seperate, good idea. Has a very good beer garden/smoking area and the Holden's golden Glow was quite a nice ale.
|
Situated by the river, a great dog friendly traditional pub.
Has very well kept ales, enjoyed the Butty Bach and the Taylors.
Good mixture of both tourists and locals. Great find.

The pub itself is a proper pub with a log fire and a nice area out the back with patio heaters in the winter. It is also dog friendly. Found a great selection of beautifully kept real ales.
Being a Tuesday night it wasn't too busy, so we were able to settle into an area with all to comfy sofas to catch up on gossip, relax and put the world to rights!
Timothy Taylor and Butty Bach were the beers tried, very good!
A delight to find a really traditional pub with real ales

situated by the river, a nice dog friendly pub that seems to attract a mix of tourists and locals. Decent line up of ale. Nice glass covered patio.

Called in here on way through after long muddy walk in trimply! Allowed the dog in too. Lovely pub, lovely atmosphere, locals really friendly and they served some great beer and wine ! Wonderful! Think we had the best seat in the pub too, a snug in front of a blazing fire...scrum!

Ideal location, great garden. The staff do a good job of keeping the queuing punters in check and in order. Always has TT lanlord on. And you can read a copy of their times. Children not allowed after 8.30 and this is enforced with vigour. There was a time when there were a lot of "pack that in" type signs around the place but these seem to have gone now. Probably the best pub in bewdley and recommended.

Brilliant pub and restaurant stayed for 2 nights last weekend and we had an excellent time. Staff were very friendly, also very competent something you do not see in many pubs. The comments made by chrispurs were very negative and seemingly made by a person who has no experience of the pub trade. Yes pubs are closing and many would close even quicker if people were allowed to bring food onto their premises. Only the very large beer gardens I have visited in Germany and I have visited many, allow customers to bring their own food. I do not know any pub in this country that has a garden that can seat 200 let alone 1000 plus you come across in Germany. The garden area of the Mug House was well set out and used by a lot of customers, even in early October. The beer at the Mug House was kept very well and it was the first time I had tried Bewdley Brewery Beers and was suitably impressed. The food whilst not cheap was of a very high standard especially the breakfasts, I can reccomend the Full English also the Scabbled Eggs and Smoked Salmon. All in all an excellent pub in a town which also has some other good ones but the Mug House is the one to visit.

Ok lunch out with the wife and two kids to Bewdley, where there is one of the best fish and chip shops in Britain (merchants) and plenty of good pubs, but this pub ruined our day as you can see by the photo above. Outside the pub theres a pavement then road, then on the right of this is another small paved area next to the River Severn with some of those aluminium tables and chairs. We had bought some cod and chips to enjoy by the river I went into the pub to get beer cider etc at the awkwardly shaped bar no cask real cider, the staff mentioned Westons, could not see tap for this only a Stowford Press font so bought this, some Pepsi (asked for Coke given Pepsi no explanation ) and a pint of Teme Valley This went back to the rivers edge to enjoy, a few sips into our drinks the barman comes out if the pub and said to us you cant eat fish and chips there it was really embarrassing we had to leave, theres the thanks . we had just spent hard earned money at there establishment we hadnt bought drinks from elsewhere we were not sitting in there pub/ restaurant nor there large glass covered beer garden apparently the biggest in Bewdley I could see an advert for that but no sign to inform me of the policy re eating on other side of the public road only plenty of signs for their b and b why such an unfriendly stance oh hang on Ive just seen the name of there restaurant the Angry Chef I wondered if the warm and friendly welcome was only extended to people using there restaurant or accommodation. Theres a bigger point pubs are closing at a rate of 39 per week (spring 2010 British beer and pub association) The landlord of the Camra 2006 poty Tom Cobley tavern Spreyton Devon is fond of saying running a successful pub isnt rocket science hes right this short sighted attitude of the mug house unlike the Camra poty 2003 the crown and thistle that pretty much won it on the attitude to customers with food plating up, cutlery and condiments is surely better vis I would have had another round another 7 visited again and recommend the place to friends so thats a lot of profit down the drain well the best of British luck to him fortunately there are plenty of other pubs in Bewdley or maybe next time we will go to Bridgnorth.

Stayed here over the weekend of 6/7th March nice sized rooms and a very good breakfast. As for the bar good choice of beers friendly staff and very popular with the locals especially on Fri/Sat evenings.
|
Nice beer, but is so popular these days can get very congested inside on the weekends! Try the beer festival in the spring, when its warm enough to use the beer garden.
|
Stayed here over the New Year. Had agreat time. The rooms are very big with all you need for your stay including a fridge (more use in the summer). The food was good including the service. They had three ales on all top quality.

Can't give this pub a proper score because I never got there this time, though I had an adequate meal there after booking last April. By phone, I tried to book for lunch for 4 people for next day (29 Dec 09). Landlord said he wouldn't take bookings because it might be busy - isn't that the reason for making a booking? When I said I'd booked successfully before, he said the person shouldn't have taken the booking. When I said it was a serious booking, he said 'it would tie up a table for an hour'. With that kind of money-above-all attitude from a landlord, I'm glad I didn't go there - certainly won't again. Booked at The Little Packhorse instead - busy but no problem in them taking a booking.

Just a warning for vegetarians: they put Parmesan cheese into a lot of their dishes which, as we all know, is not vegetarian!
|
Great beers, serving Bewdley Brewery beer plus Milestone / Wye valley and TT Landlord . Grub was good. Smashing sitting by the river with the sun shining. Friendly service as well.
|
Great beer, reasonably priced food, Drew the landlord is friendly, approachable and mingles with the punters often, excellent location.
The beer garden is fantastic - a real retreat from the world.
Thoroughly recommended!

This is a great pub. Forgot till yesterday that I once went to a beer festival here. The pub has some lovely old pictures of Bewdley including many of the area in flood. Beer wise good selection, Wye Valley 'HPA', TT 'Landlord', and Woods 'Shropshire Lad'. The Woods beer was so clear, smooth and creamy I had to have 2 pints!
|
Lovely little pub. Great pint of HPA and the missus enjoyed her pint of Wood's Quaff.
|
I agree- I work just up the road and find this a lovely, welcoming place to relax after a hard day. the luchtime food is very reasonably priced and the staff have always been friendly when I've visited.
|
Excellent real ales - including the popular HPA (Hereford Pale Ale) from the Wye Valley Brewery. Cosy interior with log fire in winter and nice little beer garden out the back for summer use. Or stand out front and look at the River Severn.
