The Dog and Bone, Lincoln

The Dog and Bone in Lincoln is with out a doubt one of the best pubs that I have ever been to. We were enjoying a day out in Lincoln on Saturday and, being conscientious and clever types we did a bit of research and decided upon the Dog and Bone as our lunch time watering hole.

The pub was not, as the guide stated, at the north west corner of the cathedral complex, but some 10 minutes walk (I know, it could have been worse), far from the main drag in a neighbourhood reminiscent of Coronation Street. Tucked away down a small, residential road it would be easy to miss. Having found it though, more fool you should you chose to walk on by!

The front door leads you in a very comfortable lounge bar. Book shelves dominate this space crammed with everything from Mills and Boon to the OED. Round the other side of the bar one finds four excellent beers, and a quality pint of Bateman's.

Definitely one for the todo list.

Strugglers Inn, Lincoln

Great real ale pub near the Cathedral. Small snug and main bar, real fires, great beers well kept and a very good choice. Counted 9 handpumps. Timothy Taylor was excellent. Freindly locals and staff, a real traditional local with plenty of interesting nik naks and loads of beer mats hanging from the ceilings and around the walls.

Will definitely be back when we come to Lincoln again.

The Mug House Inn, Bewdley

The pub itself is a proper pub with a log fire and a nice area out the back with patio heaters in the winter. It is also dog friendly. Found a great selection of beautifully kept real ales.

Being a Tuesday night it wasn't too busy, so we were able to settle into an area with all to comfy sofas to catch up on gossip, relax and put the world to rights!

Timothy Taylor and Butty Bach were the beers tried, very good!

A delight to find a really traditional pub with real ales
