Met at this pub at lunchtime before spending the afternoon at the Wealds and Downlands Museum which is just down the road. We were greeted by a friendly team of staff which made us very welcome, including the dog. The beer Castle Rock Harvest Pale was in excellent condition and the food was very good. We were so impressed by our experience that we returned later for an evening meal which could not be faulted. Well worth a visit.

A very 'pleasant pheasant' set in a pretty village at the foot of the South Downs midway between Chichester and Midhurst and convenient for the nearby Weald & Downland Open Air Museum and for the Goodwood Horse Racing and Motor Racing circuits. Popular with walkers. Good space inside and large garden with trestle tables when the weather is fine. Reasonable pub menu (which I didn't try) and rather over-priced Fullers Ales. Less pretentious than the 'Fox Runs Free' at nearby Charlton.

Pretty pub, mediocre choice of drinks, poor food. Steak, mushroom & ale pie had 3 pieces of meat and should have been called mushroom pie - came in a dish with a puff pastry lid, something I haven't seen since the 80s. My partners scallops were very overcooked as were the vegetables. Chips were good but overall very disappointed - pub food has advanced so much & I felt this place was in a time warp. We were very hungry so ate & left - probably should've sent meal back. Will not return.

A real gem accidently found on our way to the Weald Museum. Couldn't fault any aspect of the place. The roast partridge (Had to have it really) was superb as was my wife's venison stew. The normal menu is fairly bog standard but the specials board is the star of the show. Yes it is a bit pricier than most but you definitely get what you pay for. We were there at lunchtime but I would imagine that an evening meal there would be something really special. Just wish it was closer to home.

Quality remains priority. Locals have come back, food and drink is good - not cheap though - and the exterior and landlord's quarters are being given a lick of paint.

The new owners seem to be making a good job of it. Beer good, and the food is really excellent. Not cheap, even by local standards, but good value (given the quality) if you want to treat yourself. Very convenient for the Weald and Downland Museum.

Under new ownership as of early April 2009 - same people who own the Earl of March in Lavant. Apparently no plans other than to improve the quality of food and keep the excellent range of beers going so watch this space with renewed interest !

Been going to the Partridge and its former incarnation the Fox and Hounds regularly over the last 12 years.
It's definitely a favourite of mine - well kept beer, very good food sourced from quality local suppliers, attentive efficient staff and spotlessly clean.
Today I learnt that Tony and Dawn have sold up and will leave at the end of March, disillusioned by an apparent impossibility to make a profit over the winter months.
I was appalled - if a place this well-run can't survive, who can? A black day for Singleton and the region.
Haste ye back Tony & Dawn - and thanks for all your hard work over the last 12 years.

We use this pub twice a month and have done for a couple of years now. The new bar is lovely and has been done so well. The food is excellent and it is nice to go to a pub which still has a landlord and not a rude manager. We tell all our friends to go there.

went to this pub on a very busy saturday night, the food was amazing the staff were so polite and smartly dressed and attentive. This is one of the cleanest pubs i have ever been in even the toilets are spotless!

Have had some fairly good meals here in the past but was very disappointed today. Were sat at a wobbly table and had a wobbly chair, right by an open door (in November) which we had to keep getting up to close. Waited approx. half an hour for food order to be taken. Garlic mushrooms were chewy and one of our party burnt their fingers on plates that were scalding hot - no warning given. Some of us were asked to re-order our main courses as it had run out (OK - this happens. Both the Scampi and crab cakes arrived the colour of conkers (very overdone) and chips were hard. Boiled potatoes were dry. Ordered a coffee with whipped cream for afters, but it arrived with no whipped cream. When we asked if we could have some were told (very sullenly) that they had run out. Shame - nice building - poor service - appalling food.

OK, Tony the landlord, is a bit quirky but he keeps his beer well and has weekly live music of a high standard. His use of locally-sourced food should be applauded as his steaks are out of this world.

Nice location, quite good food, friendly staff. Let down by the grumpy landlord barking instructions to his staff from the front of the bar but the world ain't perfect is it?

On Tuesday 15th August, jazz with the Cuff Billett Four deputising for the usual band. Great evening's music with most requests getting played. The atmosphere was very friendly, and a good time was had by all.

Very friendly pub, with ( my friends assure me ) good food. I went there for the jazz, performed by Harry Strutters Hot Four, which was enjoyable and entertaining. They play there every third Tuesday of the month, ensuring a large crowd.
