Good Beer Guide 2019 Entry.
The bar is a good approximation of a pub - with nick nacky decorations, collections of Good Beer Guides, rules of the tavern posters etc.
Horseshoe bar with high stools all around. Wooden tables with 4 wooden seats. Big windows overlooking the road.
Five real ales on - I can remember HPA, Malvern Hills Brewery Bitter and Hopback Summer Lightening (chosen). In decent condition.

Old fashioned delightful hotel. Previously frequented by theatrical types I believe. Would like to make fair assessment of the beer but after a very long drinking day fail to recall what I had. It seemed jolly good at the time. Music reverberated throughout the bar, not really noisy but considerable vibration bothered me not at all.

Recently stayed here for a few days. Friendly staff, good bar (Malvern Hills Black Pear was superb) also selling Bass, the ubiquitous Doom Bar and a Kinver beer. Very good food also. Music on over the weekend, good but loud (to an oldie like me). This place is a complete antidote to soulless identikit chain hotels, and all the better for it.

Friendly hotel bar serving 3 ales from Malvern Hills Brewery and Bass. Also serves food. Live music sometimes on offer with a late finish.

It wouldn't be fair of me to rate the pub as I haven't had a drink there for over five years. However they serve an excellent (if a little pricey) breakfast so you can sometimes find the wife and I there Sunday morning eitehr before or after taking the dogs for a walk on the Malverns.

Comfortable hotel bar that is also popular with local residents. Real ales available.

Good pint in here, friendly staff and landlord. If you need to eat the food always looks great and have never heard a complaint about it.
Beer changes but always of the highest quality
|
Have also noticed landlord's strange manner toward elderly lady, but it turns out they're related. Handsome devil though. Personally I prefer the outside area as it affords splendid views. The food is delicious, but you can comfortably just enjoy a drink and a chat and there is a no-smoking zone too.

I regularly pop in to the Great Malvern Hotel bar for a drink when I am in the area. Always been impressed by the excellent real ales and also the convivial atmosphere and great customer service - bit baffled by the comments about the landlord, always found him to be charming.

Good pint, but expensive. Smokey atmosphere. Landlord/barman? rude to elderly lady in my opinion. Needs a course on customer relations.

They do a good pint in here, but the landlord's manner leaves rather a lot to be desired. If you're just in there for a pint rather than to eat he seems to regard you as some sort of inferior species. Personally I prefer to give my money to the The Nag's Head down the road.

This is a great place to drink and eat, especially the outside area. Often go hill walking and this place is perfect for relaxing afterwards.

Popped in for an excellent sandwich and a quick pint (or two) before attacking the Worcesteshire Beacon.
