Couldn't fault the pint of Southwold I had when I popped in last week. Very nice !

Well, I was not very impressed with this pub at all bit of a rip off. They have on draught Adnams Sole Star which is one of the breed on lower alcohol beers which are exempt from duty. This was brought in by the government in a bid to allow pubs to sell a 'cheaper' low alcohol beer to try and attract custom. Except where other pubs are charging 2.50 for a pint of Sole Star this pub seems to want to rip off its customers and charge 3.25 a pint! That's 75 pence over the odds, which then beggars the question. If they are prepared to rip their customers off like that on a pint of beer what are they ripping them off on their food and the like? Sorry I will not be visiting this pub again for drink or food as they obviously have no qualms what they charge their customers.

This is a nice pub with plenty of benches spread along the south-facing exterior for good-weather usage. The service and beer was fine when we visited at Easter.

Excellent pub with good beers (Adnams) and good mix of people - nice to see a village pub doing well in these tough times. Landlady and staff very helpful and friendly - especially the pet 2yo Labrador, Sam.
Rooms exceelnt - large, clean, and with wonderful en suite. Highly recommended as place to stay.

Stopped here after a camping weekend in Dunwich and was delighted to find a cosy pub selling excellent food at very reasonable prices. My ploughman's was delicious and substantial, and the food served with a smile. Highly recommended!

I visited the pub as part of a short break in the delightful village of Orford and was thrilled to find great beer, 'proper' homemade food and a warm welcome. From talking to the locals I understood that the pub is under new ownership, if so, they've got it just right - a happy blend of a local's pub and one that warmly welcomes guests. Nice selection of Adnams real ales and a Suffolk Pork Belly dish that was simply as good as pub food gets. I was booked elsewhere for the second night of my break, but cancelled that when I found out they had their own letting rooms at the pub. I'll be back...soon!

Enjoyed a couple of pints in The Kings Head this weekend. Looks like it is under new management who seem as keen to please as the previous owners. Some of the locals seemed a bit disgruntled that there was no steak on the menu however! - seems you cannot please all.

Stayed here the weekend 22-24 Nov 08. Room was large, clean and cosy. Were made very welcome by the owners and all the staff. Lovely evening meal and breakfast. Very dog-friendly. Would stay again.

Had supper here this week and the food really was below average for pub food and on the expensive side. Much better to go to the Jolly Sailor down near the quay where the food is excellent.

We'd heard adverse comment about this pub, ie that it had gone very upmarket and was now just a restaurant etc. So with some trepidation we went in with our two kids, aged 6 and 3, only to find it friendly and welcoming with good food and excellent Adnams beer. The children's menu included such delights as peanut butter sandwiches and banana sandwiches, just to dispel any fears this had turned into a snooty restaurant. We had the 'doorstep' sandwiches for lunch and I enjoyed them, and felt that at 3.95 they compared very favourably with similar sarnis in less attractive pubs. We will definitley be back here, especially as the 'Jolly Sailor' down the road is emphatically anti-children.

Friendly welcoming pub. good food good kids menu very good location well worth a visit lots of local attractions. enjoyed our meal there thanks :)

Friendly and professional. I'd have liked to be able to get an ordinary sandwich, not a 'doorstep', but simple sandwiches are a rarity nowadays. I'm sure that's because there's a limit to what you can have the nerve to charge for them. One of the bar staff needs to be taught how to draw a pint so that its condition yields a slight head. The last thing I want is a northern-style tight creamy head, but I find the completely flat look unattractive.

Food is OK - althogh limited choice - seems odd to have specials of the day that repeat every week - guess you have to ask Why? No snacky food - could do with that.
Staff very friendly. Beer good. Atmosphere fine.
