The Jolly Sailor, Orford

No one-trick pony. Had a great stay this weekend with friends. Both rooms that we occupied were great and well furnished. Hospitality by the owners perfect.
Dinner was superb and the breakfast set us up for the day. The Jolly Sailor is a little jewel in Suffolk. Thoroughly recommended.

The Kings Head, Orford

Enjoyed a couple of pints in The Kings Head this weekend. Looks like it is under new management who seem as keen to please as the previous owners. Some of the locals seemed a bit disgruntled that there was no steak on the menu however! - seems you cannot please all.

The Jolly Sailor, Orford

What a breath of fresh air - new management - and someone who is interesting and interested. My wife and I spent last July in Orford and I had the misfortune to visit this pub. The previous landlord was ghastly - just rude and ignorant.
On Friday evening after watching the two fishing boats unload a bountiful catch on the Quay, we walked past the pub and I tried the door. It was locked, but on seeing us, the landlord opened up and poured the perfect pint. He sat with us and talked about his business and empathy with the locality. Great place to sit in front of wood burner and pass the time. I hope it is well supported by the locals and weekenders. Use it or lose it, as they say.
