Popped in for a pint Sunday afternoon. More of a locals pub than tourists, with a big interior and pool table. Everybody friendly and the usual St.Austell range of beers... My Tribute was very nice.

What a disappointment... The service was not very good and the food left a lot to be desired. Chips with my steak were not cooked properly but were burnt on the outside. A wrong choice of potatos were used. My wifes lasagne was very bland. . The last time we were here the food was very good but the pub has changed hands since then. I think the sign outside saying they sell good food is an offence under the trades description act. We will not be going back there again EVER,

St Austell Brewery pub primarily frequented by locals on the edge of Hayle. They seemed to be doing a roaring trade with their Sunday carvery. Dartmoor Best, HSD, Trelawny, Proper Job & Tribute were all on. Keg cider was Cornish Rattler, Pear Rattler & Berry Rattler. Staff were friendly. But the interior is a little basic. Ok, but nothing particularly special.

Have just spent a lovely afternoon with my family at the Cornish Arms. Haven't been here in a while and the new manager has really spruced it up! The food was great, as was the atmosphere with very kindly staff. And thanks to part of the garden being under cover we were able to enjoy the sunshine whilst not getting wet! Would definitly revisit.

after eating and drinking in the Bucket of Blood up the road this was a let down, the food came out in about five mins " DING " and wasn't up to much, ale and service was fine though, but food wise would much prefer too wait the 30 mins + in the B of B for obviously freshly prepared food

Visited on a Saturday night. God selection of St Austell Ales including HSD on draught. Food had a pretty par for the course pub menu but good to eat and reasonably priced. Friendly atmosphere - free papers on the bar. What's not to like? Rates a (generous) 7

Hey 'Bash' can't help but notice you joined this site & gave this pub a good review ( after it receiving several bad reviews from various people),a very bad review of a nearby rival pub and now nearly 6 months on you don't appear to have gone near this site. You are obviously connected to this pub in some way,if you feel you have to do things like this to drum up trade i pity you, your family & anyone unfortunate enough to walk into your pub.

A warm and welcoming pub with friending staff . The best pub food that we have had in along time. If you want a good evening out I recommend this pub.

Have used this pub a lot whilst on holiday for the last four years. The food is consistently good at reasonable prices. The Sunday roasts are very popular - hence it is very busy. There is a choice of four or five real ales, all from the St Austell brewery. It is a shame that St Austell's dominate most of Cornwall. If you do manage to find other beers they will probably be from Sharp's or Skinners. Overall though, a good friendly pub. The only real annoyance is small children running around noisily in the restaurant, with the management turning a blind eye. Is this the way of modern times? Bad parenting and poor management / standards?

2pm on a hot summer's day - 1 person in the pub - a bit worrying, but everyone was at the beach. Beer was good - the bar girl very pleasant. The food was excellent and very reasonable. I could not finish the 6 tons of ham. I would return for an evening without hesitation.

Decided to go into the Cornish Arms as from the outside it looked like a lovely old fashioned pub.... and hopefully a good old fashioned welcome as well. Could not have been more wrong! The staff were rude, the food was absolutely appalling and the welcome was non existant. The food is NOT freshly prepared and was not hot enough. I should have complained, but to be honest, the attitude of the staff was obvious that I would get nowhere and I really just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. Should have picked up fish and chips at the local chippy!
Do not waste your hard earned cash on this disappointing pub.

Used to be a good pub but new crew (2009) are rude and unhelpful, pubs are supposed to be welcoming this one is so far from that its not true. I would never go there again even if its the last pub standing in Hayle. I think its pretty much down to the very young manager who appears to be son of owner, very bad idea putting a young gun in charge, gives ideas above station and makes him pompous and snooty, such a shame as it used to be the hub of Hayle, now its food is very second rate and the atmosphere is dreadful.

hey awooga,if you don't like a pub fair enough but a one word description smacks of ignorance.
|
never actually managed to get a table here, it's allways packed so it must be good

Agree with previous post, good solid pub food, quite refreshing after walking from St Ives and its pretentious refreshments. Great selection of ales and finely placed for the 15 min walk to the station. Finished the South West Coast Path here and looking forward to returning to the same pub next year for the next section.

Best pub for food in Hayle in the evening until 9pm. Nothing special but good solid pub food at reasonable prices and a good selection of beers
|
Nice friendly pub, but it has to be said that I rate this pub food as the best pub food I or my family have ever had. Not restaurant or gourmet, but simple excellent food at good prices. 8/10 as a pub - 10/10 for the food, so I gave it a 9.

This is a lovely pub with excellent food and great beer but if only John and Sally who own the pub would realize that people on holiday and also the locals who do use the pub would like to be greeted with a smile when they come to the Bar. They give the impression that they want your money but they don't want to be in the pub so if this is the case they should atay upstairs and let somebody else be front of house.

Deservedly busy in the summer as its location is ideal, this is a very friendly and welcoming pub. they serve excellent food and the beer is stored well. A good place to sit out in the evenng as the sun sets with a window box display that is truly phenomenal. Splendid hosts, Jon & Sally.

Local drinkers pub, small with a usually quiet bar serving well kept real ales. Clientele tends to be older age group.
