Although there are a few bar stools, this is definitely a dining pub with its AA rosette. The Butty Bach was a little flat and not as good an offering as could be found in the nearby much less sophisticated Sun Inn. Ludlow Gold was the other ale on offer. Very good Sunday lunch with good service too (for what it is worth).

Not really a pub. Hotel-cum-restaurant. If you want a drink head for the Sun!

Went for a meal here in the formal dining room with family and the food was excellent at a price commensurate with the quality. There is a bar serving a couple of real ales which were in very good condition. Seating for relaxing and/or drinking is also available at other areas including the garden. A well presented and upmarket hotel.

Been here a few times since it re-opened and it looks very smart, although a bit bright on the lighting side. It could make it a little more intimate and warm by some more subtle lighting. Easten in the restaurant twice and once in the bar area. Food standard is very good, but it is a bit nouvelle cuisine - hungry when you've finished?

What a difference two years makes!!!! Really friendly staff and a decent atmosphere. Haven't eaten there yet, but beer's good.

It's just been reopened and has two great bars, one pretty relaxed the other pretty classy, but both selling some great beers. Oh, and the food is really wonderful! I'll post a longer review when I get back from South Germany.

This pub is under new ownership and has recently been refurbished beautifully. The staff are friendly and helpful - nothing is too much trouble. I have eaten in both the lounge bar and restaurant and had superb meals which were served quickly and efficiently by friendly waitresses. The bars are well stocked and good local ales are served by smiling helpful bar staff. I can happily recommend this venue to anybody looking for an enjoyable evening or a short break in one of the lovely newly furnished bedrooms.

Newly restored to it's former glory, the Lion opened this weekend. Lovely furnishings, wonderful menu, great beer. And it WON"T FLOOD ANYMORE thanks to new river defences. Good Luck, Lion!

If you want to eat in this establishment I suggest you take your own food with you! I booked a table for three on a Saturday for the following Sunday lunch. We arrived early, as in 20 minutes before our booked time, had to go to the bar to order, even though there were staff taking orders from tables, and were rudely told "sorry we've run out of beef, choose something else." On the good side we then went to "the Baron of Beef" in Bucknell, where we received a great welcome even though by this time it was a bit late in the afternoon, and had a fantastic beef dinner!

Had dinner here over New Year 07/08. Staff certainly don't come across as particularly friendly initially but the food was lovely and service was prompt. When we returned on a second occasion the barman warmed somewhat so maybe it's improving!

Surly barman when asked to remove sparkler said he would when he returned with fullers London pride that resembled a pint of theakstones and was challenged replied the law ???. Public bar a kharzi, and pay the same amount for a pint as in the rest of the pub (I use this expression loosely as its really a restaurant). Avoid like the plague! unless you like to be treated like this, and oh yes wait 10 minutes for service

The beer garden is on the banks of the river teme and you can actually paddle in the margins with you beer! Inside is a headache, just get your drink and march straight on outside.
