The nearest thing to my local. Always a good reception with the 'Tribute' being the ale of choice. Nice to get away from the blanket coverage of Hall and Woodhouse

open a year now under new ownership and management. really good ales, food and service. live music quiz nights and more. brilliant landlord and brilliant chef! visit chris and rob today!
|
Great to see this pub open again, I visited last week where there was live music and a great crowd. The new landlord seems to have had a great affect on what was a tired and sorry little boozer. Long live The Pheonix affect! I'll for one be back!

Now open again with a good clean interior and thankfully a freehouse serving a great choice of draught products with Doombar and Tribute as their current ales, both of which are excellant. Have been in a few times and the weekends are busy and there is a great atmosphere, sunday lunch was also very good. Great to see something new in Gillingham, my new local!

Still empty and closed with the "To Let" displayed at even date. This high street has the smell of death about it. I would be pleasantly surprised if it is ever a pub business again.
|
Appears to have closed down. Some external signs removed and a 'To Let' board on display.
|
I heard that it went to auction recently after owners retired. And a pub company like j d wetherspoon have purchased it. But that was word on the street from many people.

I have recently visited this pub twice (I do not give up easily)!
Despite being Cask mark and in guides etc. it seems to have got very poor. Both visits both H & W beers have been poor (probably well past a use by date).
Strangely enough the unpromising pub next door (RedLion) was selling reaonable qulity beer.

only open nights and weekends has sky. never has many in it beer ok but not cheap
|
I made one of my occasional visits last week. This place really does have the good feel of a village pub for grown ups. But. the beer is Hall & Woodhouse. I had the lunch special which seemed to be home made (somewhere) and was really very good. I guess that this is the best pub in Gillingham (Despite having Hall & W prices).

very freindly pub, great food(the best in town),really nice staff
|
Average small town pub, quite comfortable but with a somewhat 'quaint' atmosphere. I called in for a swift pint this Saturday lunchtime to find myself surrounded by little old ladies 'taking tea' - I thought I'd been wafted back to the 'thirties! Three pumps but only one on - Badger. Say no more.

Enjoyed the pub. Greeted by two young bar staff who couldn't have been friendlier and made to feel very welcome. Out of choice I wouldn't normally drink Hall and Woodhouse (Badger etc) beer however the Sussex Bitter (nothing like the King and Barnes brew that I was weaned upon) was being sold at 1 a pint!! Couldn't refuse a second one. The food was very good and filling. Worth a try if you are in the town.

Thoroughly inoffensive but rather dull Hall and Woodhouse pub serving throughly inoffensive but dull Badger beer. Possibly the best pub in Gillingham town centre - which isn't saying much - but not really worth bothering with unless you really fancy a quick pint. Having said that it is a convivial sort of a place as previous reviwers have correctly asserted and does feel like it has some connection with Gillingham. A locals pub? Maybe, but more of a local pub.

good beer, good food, clean, safe.
|
Really friendly place, good tasty food, excellent Sunday roast, no foul language allowed, safe to take children, elderly accomodated, open fire. Good quality beer. have been coming to the pub for 12 years on a regular basis so I can say hand on heart this is a lovely traditional pub where a female can come in on there own and feel safe.
