yes more oldies than teens pub but live and let live .always seems a good crowd on a sat afternoon.lots of horse racing on the tv if thats your thing ,beer as said before is ok but nothing to get to excited about im afraid. can feel very warm [stuffy] if you go in on a very hot day . bar staff as a rule are a pretty friendly bunch all round.

Oldies pub I suppose but nothing wrong with that.

Guinness was decent. Not tried the food yet or the restaurant next door which is attached to the pub.

I am a real ale fan and the mediocre Greene King IPA and London Pride on offer is no reason to visit Hardy's.

However, if you're looking for good quality food made with love and care then Tom's your man. Tom embraces the notion of 'sell the sizzle, not the sausage' and his food is hearty and delicious and very reasonably priced.

The other staff are friendly and welcoming too.

Skip the ale here, have a Guinness and fill your belly with excellent food.

Well, it may not be everyone's cup of tea but I've always found this Pub to be very welcoming. Guinness is pretty good and music on most weekends. The chef from next door is very friendly too and food looked great, though I've never eaten there.

"I took my family to hardys on st patricks day knowing that is was probably the best public house in south east London to celebrate st patrick day!!!"

======================================================================

For me, that'sjust one more reason to avoid it!

Was a bit dissapointed with a comment I read on here!! I took my family to hardys on st patricks day knowing that is was probably the best public house in south east London to celebrate st patrick day!!! and i can tell you I was proved right. Their was music all day, irish dancers, and a full irish menu, with guinness extremely cheap but quality. Now I couldnt fault anything that day being English I went away with my parents and 2 young children feeling very irih. Well done hardys staff and locals make it brilliantly unique.

A great pub to meet up with your mates, but not one to take the missus to for a quiet pint. Tom is about the most insistent cook you will ever meet, and his food is really good. Real ale is not available in here, but the Guinness was great. All pubs should have juke boxes in, and this one has a good one, so well done. Overall not bad, middle of the road pub, but I would most definately go back

Dissappointed with this pub after reading the glowing reports below.

Visited during the Chelsea v Arsenal match, which admittedly is maybe not the best time to judge a pub.

Just seemed very ordinary to me. Clientele mainly men of various ages watching football and rugby on another screen.

Nothing at all that would make me want to return.
Pat_Bateman - 8 Feb 2010 10:36
Very friendly pub, attentive staff particularly the enthusiast Tom.

Visited yesterday again. Visit spoilt by one loud mouthed local 'character' who seemed to enjoy the sound of his own voice and regaled his group of 'friends' and eventually the entire pub with a constant stream of f's and c's.

Why are idiots like this allowed to spoil it for everybody else?

Excellent. The first proper pub I have been in since I was about 5. !!! honestly. The food is superb and Tom, a massive thank you, is great. I was feeling poorly and he made me soup and my partner had the lamb shank which was great as I felt I could just have a little taste... and the homemade chips. mmm. I honestly left the place with such a lovely warm feeling in my heart from Tom, and although we live miles away, I will be back to try the homemade chicken pie. Cannot wait. I love it in there, would be my local if I ilived anywhere near. Thank you tom, feel loads better today! Victoria, South Coast

Spitfire, gkipa & (I think) Pride. The reason I'm unsure about the latter is that the Spitfire had run out (although the guv did check whether there was any more) and we didn't stay for a drink, which surprises me if there was Pride (a reasonable, if ubiquitous, safety net). Anyway, the early match was showing, as well as racing. Long bar on the right, good darts area. I'll look in again if over this way. No rating left this time.

Excellent pub. Good choice of beer and larger which is not to pricey for Greenwich. There are 3 Large screens playing sport mainly Horse Racing during the day. The food , supplied from the Green Pea Restuarant next door , is superb. Tom is very entertaining and gives and good as he gets! Rounding of the excellent 'pub feel' atmosphere. The only minus is the small garden/ yard which doesn't trap the sun and can be a bit of a turn off when chosing a pub to drink in the summer. worth a visit for the food alone!

This is the greatest friendliest little homely pub i have been to in quite a while, Tom, who is the resident chef ( i say chef because this guy cooks with all fresh meats and vegetables)and a laugh a minute, makes all welcome, the atmosphere is just phenominal and the bar staff add to the overall friendliness of the evening, even the locals are there with a great helping hand, it is hard to believe in these days that there are still real friendly folks that gather together on a regular basis and serve the best darned food i have eaten out in the longest time. Hooray for the Irishman who could i think make any food absolutely great. You have not eaten until you go for his lamb shank, it just falls of the bone and has the greatest taste, i would venture to say even someone who does not like lamb, would enjoy it prapared by this guy. If i lived within a hundred miles of this place i would be there at least on a weekly basis.
All i can say is keep it up Tom.

Excellent food prepared by the resident chef, a wonderful Irishman called Tom who comes out and presents you with a speaking menu of all his home-made, toally organic and truly wonderful food. Good atmosphere, too, and a fun quiz on Thursday nights.

Has changed hands recently and this might not be good news for those looking forward to the friendly Irish welcome.
One of the great features of this place was the vibe - you really felt they weren't just after your money 'till twenty past eleven and then lights up and out the door.
The mix of different types was great too - everyone just rubbed along fine. It would be a shame if it turned into just another boozer.
It's still early days, so they deserve a chance.
The bar staff are willing and seem pretty capable, and the Guinness is OK - although the "normal" (not ice cold) option has gone.

One of the best pubs in Greenwich - if you're Irish the very best (ie. not a "theme" Irish but real) Great to watch football to - some passion there, and a good selection of real ales. Quiz night is good too.
georgebridges - 6 Jan 2005 00:52
very very nice pub. The best place to watch sport in greenwich. very friendly fast staff.
baz_stella - 21 Dec 2004 15:53
Fantastic staff, great pub beautifully run.
oliverreed - 24 Nov 2004 14:00
The best steak pie in the world!

The most eclectic mix of people I have ever seen - manual labourers teachers, students, business men and even chavs - a great "cosy" all day local for great drinking with good friends.

Great pint of Guinness!

Thai food now gone. New menu even better. Yum!

Quiz night on a Thursday is always a laugh. Quizmaster used to set questions for the Weakest Link...

A great pub with with space, and live entertainment on saturdays that now has got better with an English/Irish resturant of its own next door, this food can also be served in the pub. rate 08/10

Friendly competant staff. Great live music on Saturdays. You don't get many pubs like this nowadays.
woodsie - [email protected] - 27 Jun 2004 12:17
Great pub, friendly staff - love the candles!
Holly - 22 Mar 2004 11:44
Best pub in Greenwich beyond doubt. Friendly staff and punters. Great for sports watching, and for meeting your mates for a quiet pint in the week. The Guinness is good for you and so is the thai food!
boru - 14 Feb 2004 15:00
Terrific Guinness (imported direct from Ireland I understand), great people both in front of and behind the bar, cheap prices and good thai food. The exterior may be a little intimidating but nobody inside is. Great for football or even a quick pint with the paper after work. A hidden gem!
Davey Boy - 13 Feb 2004 16:30
This is the best place in greenwich to watch football. big screen, great atmosphere !!!
Tricky11 - 24 Sep 2003 16:17
Lovely friendly boozer run by a charming Irish couple - and a huge, diverse range of regulars. Has live music on Saturdays, a quiz night on Thursdays and has just started offering Thai food. Very big on football too - the owners are Charlton fans. Beats the over-rated central Greenwich boozers hands down.
