Richard III, Leicesterback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
Wow, what a transformation! When I was growing up the King Richard III was a real boozer, but Everards has now cashed in on its location… As the High cross has engulfed this part of the city, the pub is now in the heart of the shopping and eating areas… From grimy carpets, tiled floors and fruit machine, it is now stripped wooden floorboards, candles, home-made crisps etc… I don''t like to see these old pubs go, but In all fairness to Everards, it has been very tastefully refurbished and you couldn’t argue with the fantastic ales and great food, all served by very knowledgeable staff in a great ambience. The front windows totally open onto the street, giving an open feeling, and there a smaller rooms to the back. There is even a nice courtyard to the side… I cant remember all the beers, but certainly Original, Sunchaser, Tiger, chilled Purity Longhorn IPA and a Saison farmhouse-style ale. Who would have thought it; You will be telling me next Leicester City will win the Premier League! Keep the faith…

Visited on Good Friday less than a week after it had reopened following its makeover. No longer is it a traditional local but it's now a smart, bright, modern-looking pub with some original features retained (go to the top of the stairs to see a superb example of Victoriana). Food menu looked so imaginative that we cancelled our lunch booking next door and glad we did so. The Framework Pale Ale was excellent too. Whilst it may now have joined the nearby café culture experience so decried by a previous reviewer, that didn't concern me given the quality of the food/beer/service.

A real local's atmosphere, without the hostility sometimes felt in such places. A fine pint of Everard's Tiger @ 2.95, friendly bar folk; perhaps not a tourist magnet but worth seeking out for a real English pub experience.

Very locals local. Pool in the front bar and a darts tournament in the back. Very sporting pub. Everards Yakima was in good nick, at £2.75, March 2013.

A proper, traditional pub. Ok, the pool table is a bit strange in the front room but it does have a cracking beer garden/smoking area at the side of the building. Also has a dart board which very few pubs have nowadays. Had a few pints of Tiger which was in great form and only 2.50 per pint (30/05/09). A great contrast to the poncy tapas and cafe culture bollox across the road in the Highcross "shopping experience".

Called in here on Wednesday afternoon. Pub was empty which was a shame. Warm welcome from who I assume is the landlady - went for the Everards Beacon which was in good nick, felt guilty leaving in the end. Traditional backstreet pub, friendly but as pointed out before, the seating layout is somewhat odd - if I was them I would lose the pool table which dominates the whole pub and takes up most of the space.

A basic ,locals boozer behind the High Cross shopping centre. Strange kind of layout. You enter via the public bar area which is dominated by a large pool table, flat screen tele and copious amounts of football club pendants hanging from the ceiling and no seating. Keep going and then you get to the slightly separate bar area which has a bench seating area, and again the bar being festooned with more football paraphanalia. Keep going again and you enter another area with a few tables and chairs and dartboard and then keep going again for the toilets. Front bar was very busy with locals at 5.30ish last Saturday when me and no 1 son sought solace from John Lewis and Debenhams. But we ploughed our way through to the bar and seating area behind and were rewarded by a very nice pint of Tiger and fast and firendly service by the bustling Land Lady and Land Lord. Not a smart pub, but if you are after a decent pint of Everards served couteously with a smile, then you can't go wrong with The Richard III. And being cockneys, we did have a good laugh at the name.

Having found that the Hat and Beaver was no more called in here instead. A basic pub with local working clientele, just the sort of place I enjoy visiting. Everards beers, good value rolls.

Nice friendly small everards pub, with small beer patio out the back. 8/10

nice name. I take it the owner is not a Cockney.
