Moored up early doors for a drink. Young guy mooring the boats was great but the other staff at the pub were pretty slow and clueless. Half of our order was forgotten with other people who had arrived after us being served first.
Several beers on tap. Tried the Woodforde Wherry and Nelson's Revenge which were both okay but nothing special.
Bit of a weird mix of furniture inside the pub, felt a bit unloved and even early in the day the toilets smelt quite funky.

Inedible food and poor service from start to finish. When we arrived we asked for a table to seat a family of 8 and were seated in the most smallest of spaces! We asked for a larger table and were told it was reserved. This particular table did not have a reserved sign on it, although others did. By this time it was clear that we were obviously an iconvenience to the waiter and accepted the smaller table. We ordered a mixture of carvery and ala carte meals. The carvery was fine, but the others were in edible and somewhat different to the versions offered in the menu. My meal which was ordered before the other members of my family arrived 20 minutes after everyone else's did and when questioned why this was I was told it was because I ordered ala carte, however other members of my family did so this excuse was inaccurate. When challenged I was told "it doesn't matter what you think". When the food arrived my daughters pizza was burnt and inedible, my hotdog arrived with half the ingredients missing. When asked where the American mustard and Heinz ketchup was as described in the menu we were passed sachets of English mustard and cheaper ketchup alternative. My mother's dish of "hand carved roast ham, chips and fried egg" was actually shop bought packet boiled ham, and extremely undercooked eggs and again was Inedible. My fathers home cooked cottage pie, although homemade originally was microwaved to almost nuclear heat and needed 30 minutes to cool down to eating temperature. We did at the time ask to speak to the manager, who tried to pass off the boiled ham as "horing style" and refused to do anything about it. We did eventually get the child's pizza and ham and eggs refunded, but not before bing made to feel very uncomfortable and leaving with a bitter taste in our mouths, which was probably from the little food we managed to stomach.

24/03/12 We had two carvery which were the worst food I have ever tasted.
The food tasted awful. We struggled as best we could and gave up. The beer was not up to standard, the bar staff seemed to have difficulty actually pulling the pint and then had a problem with the till!
The next table were getting were in the same situation and we're making their thoughts known when we left.
We are a 5 minute walk away and will not go there again.

The Ferry Inn reopened Easter 2010.

The Ferry Inn was the Winner of the Award for The Most Improved Braodland Business at the 2011 Broads Awards.

Shame if it is to close, good riverside pub in a brilliant setting.

Despite the "CLOSED" text against this pub I can assure you when we visited on a broads holiday recently it was very much open. Unfortunately, I can't see that being for very long as it's a dump! The beer was nothing special and although we didn't eat the food looked like school dinners so we got fish and chips at the shop nearby which turned out a wise decision. Only good thing I guess is that if you want to moor up for the night it's 10 which is refundable if you have a meal in the pub which I guess is a good offer if you have kids in tow.

RE: Horrified, sad to say, but yes you are right, a great summer pub, unfortunately the summer months alone will not sustain the pub over the quieter winter period, rent and rates still need to be paid.

Top cat, i totally agree with you regarding the gastro effect, pubs are in decline all over the UK because of it.

We need the good old boozer, with a good selection of real ales, euro fizz for the kids, no food other than bar snacks.

If people want to eat, then go to a cafe or mcdonalds, stop harping on about the quality of food in pubs, they are publicans not trained chefs, and before you say, employ a chef....they cost an absolute fortune, and in most cases they tend to be journey men.....rant over

Went o the Ferry Inn yesterday only to find it boarded up and closed. No information posted but intelligence locally says that the pub went in to administration just before Christmas. Very disappointing as this is a lovely pub during the summer months and very popular. Not sure what I will do when I holiday in Horning later in the year, unless the pub re-opens by then. But it doesn't look good at the moment. Haven't been able to find out any plans.

Fantastic pub!! Ideal for families as has kids amusements in a seperate room. Food was fantastic on both occasions that we visited! Staff were great with excellent personalities (Especially Shane) Good selection of beer and wines on offer. Fantastic location with plenty of moorings. If you are going to Horning by boat then this is definately the best place to stop.

Never have i seen such a decline in a popular pub,i have been drinking in this pub as a holiday maker for a long time.If you want food not bad but go for a drink after 9.30 in the evening and they dont want to know you,FOOD,FOOD,FOOD,thats all anyone is interested in,real ale yes when they can be bothered putting it on,no chance if they have been busy(food),ale comes last still there is no one in to complain so they get away with it.If you want to chance it for a pint dont go in after 9.30 in evening.

went here recently whilst in area, only 3 other couples in there, so not exactly busy. carvery not available in the evenings during winter so choose off the pub menu - it was dreadful. My partner had scampi and chips - the whole lot deep fried and then put onto plate without being drained - and my lasagne didnt fair much better, obviously microwaved to death. Big place with plenty of tables, and nicely decorated, shame about the food.

Great place to stop if you're on a boat holiday on Broads. Just moor ya boat up and enjoy a pint or food on the deck. Mind the herons and ducks - they've got front and will happily join you onboard.
Great amusement arcade too.

We go to this pub everytime we go to the broads coz you can moor right outside it, you can also get to it by car. The food is amazing, there is a carvey every day from 12 til 3 and 6 til 9. The staff are great, there are two men serving the food who are really friendly. I really advice you to give it a go if you are in the area.
