Boot and Shoe Inn, Greystoke

Fairly cosy pub, renowned for food but be sure to book ahead. We didn't but the landlady worked hard to accommodate us.

The food is good, there is a selection of traditional English fare or a curry menu. Reasonable selection on the pumps.

Also live music in the garden, although a bit loud (or I'm just getting too old!).

The Sportsman Inn, Carlisle

On hols, Sunday afternoon with one of the party demanding a Sunday Roast we chanced upon the Sportsman and decided to give it a go.

We were not disappointed - this is a cosy bar with polite and friendly staff.
The Sunday lunch was excellent, and no skimping on the servings. We all left pleasantly full.

As an added bonus the sign proclaims they serve food up until 5pm on a Sunday, which makes a pleasant change to many.
