Another pleasurable visit on a Friday evening. We phoned up about an hour before arrival to book and although it was busy they obligingly accommodated us. Good to see that the high standard of pub food and beer (Lancaster Blonde) was as good as I can remember from previous visits. That it was so very busy so early (just past 7pm) is testimony that they consistently get it right. ironhorse - 8 Sep 2013 17:04 |
Pub just on the C2C cycle route. Well situated in a plesant village. Nice pub with plenty of interesting features, including pictures of famous musical figures inside. A decent black sheep beer available. The food was decent, the vegetable lasagne tasted ok. EyeOfTheTigerBeer - 28 Sep 2012 19:37 |
Called in again for beer and meal last night and still stand by my earlier comment. Very friendly staff, well kept beer (I enjoyed the Lancaster Blonde and Black Sheep Bitter) and a hearty, fresh, well-presented haddock and chips. A busy pub and no wonder - this is how to do it. ironhorse - 2 Oct 2011 18:26 |
Visited this pub after a long day on the Lakeland fells. Although it was very busy (a Saturday evening) we were given a friendly welcome and we were found a spot to sit and eat. Lancaster Blonde and Black Sheep bitter on offer - both very good. Enjoyed bar meals (choice of curries possibly made on the premises). This is a proper, cosy and lively pub staffed by people who seem to really enjoy their job - a real pleasure to visit. Will do my utmost to call in again when over in the Lakes. ironhorse - 31 Jan 2011 21:18 |
Fairly cosy pub, renowned for food but be sure to book ahead. We didn't but the landlady worked hard to accommodate us. The food is good, there is a selection of traditional English fare or a curry menu. Reasonable selection on the pumps. Also live music in the garden, although a bit loud (or I'm just getting too old!). precinct13 - 29 Apr 2009 13:49 |
