The Sun Inn, Bethnal Green

Went in last night while waiting for a friend. Really nice atmosphere with mainly youngish Guardian-reading types. Well-kept ale especially one barrel which I emptied :) Jazz playing in the background at a nice low volume. Not often in the area but would certainly go in again if I was! And was asked if I wanted a pint jug, which I haven't seen for years either.

The Pride of Pimlico, Pimlico

As the previous reviewers have clearly stated, you'll only like this place if you like drunken irish men or you are one! Having said that the landlord seems a decent enough chap and is pretty friendly and even some of the drunks seem friendly too if you can work out what they're babbling on about through their stupor.

Unfortunately they don't have any ales so I had to make do with a Guinness and I'm reliably informed that smoking is allowed during the lock-in...

CASK Pub and Kitchen, Pimlico

Strange how a lick of paint and great beer can revitalise a pub! The plump landlord is pretty dour but the rest of the staff are very friendly.

Prices necessitate a small bank-loan but the selection of six or so ales are well kept and change frequently. There were few clientele initially but the place is now busy nearly every night.

There are always newspapers to read and lovely food if you don't mind another bank-loan.
