It is a busy place which gives the impression that is popular, and obviously offers what people want locally.
My experience was that my mussels weren't fresh, they had been heated in a microwave, and the shells had splintered into the sauce. Some disintegrated another sign of over cooking. I asked for a finger bowl, and asked 3 different ways, and eventually the waiter understood what I meant. He was English!
My main course was OK, and the gammon came with two eggs, which I liked.
My wife's starter was pate which she found very fatty, but also no butter for the toast.
Her main course was a lump of tasteless chicken with sauce dropped on top.
Why didn't I complain? My wife didn't want me to cause a fuss.
The staff at the bar were very pleasant.
I had the lager, that name of which I cannot pronounce or spell. My wife had the Penfold chardonnay. Both very nice.
It is not a place either of want to revisit for food

The Village Inn, Beoley
haven't eaten here since Burns night 2008. The lease changed hands about the end of 2007. It seems to be a pub destined to go down hill, and never have the reputation of the true village pub. Very few of the Beoley residence visit the place, and is frequented by more people who live on Redditch estates. It has tried fine dining, but couldn't quite live up to expectations. The present owners perhaps should canvas the local residents and find out what they feel is missing from the place. The new owner doesn't see a new face as a prospective customer, and tends not to engage them in conversation.
