This place used to be OK at best. It was a good place to eat as you knew what you were getting. Since then an Indian family has taken it over and ran it into the ground. Everything is done on the cheap. Drink prices went up and up but the quality got worse and worse. Food has been rubbish ever since they took over. My wife requested a vegetarian dish but was told she couldn't have it as they didn't know they were having a vegetarian in and so they didn't take it out of the freezer. On another occasion we ordered baguettes from the bar menu at lunch time and it took them an hour to serve us. When we eventually got our food it was burnt. Ordered a vegetarian dish only to find it was made with beef and was told that is how it's served in Greece. My wife's cheesecake was frozen cream on a biscuit base. My chocolate fudge cake was chocolate ice cream on broken up Bourbons. A dish that was served with a red wine sauce was basically half a bottle of red wine poured on top of the food.
Now it has become an Indian restaurant. Why buy a pub if you want to open an Indian?
I was invited into the kitchen by the owner to meet the chef and talk about repainting the old sign and saw food all plated up ready to be served yet the restaurant was empty. The kitchen looked like it hadn't been cleaned for years.
The pub garden is too far from the pub to make it feel like it belongs to the pub and you have to go through the restaurant to get to it.
Can't wait for them to go bust or sell up and it become a pub again.

Food still good, but the menu doesn't change enough now and there doesn't seem to be many vegetarian options. Staff are still very good apart from the assistant manager. The place needs some maintenance as it beginning to fall apart.

Food has improved somewhat but there is still a lack of chips with every meal. The new member of staff was polite, chatty and very helpful. Toilets still smell. I wish they would fill the glass when ordering a Coke.

The Park Gate Inn, Hollingbourne
Staff were chatty... to each other. They were more interested in organising their night out than serving any customers and insisting on serving their friends first. Pub needs a lot of maintenance. Garden is a mess, with fag butts and dog poo everywhere. Food is obviously from packets and then microwaved. Sauces were brought to us in pots on a tray and we were told to hand them back as soon as we had spooned a small amount onto our plates as they were to be used on other tables. Cutlery wasn't clean and neither were the glasses. This place is typical of a pub in the "Vintage Inn" chain.

Been to this pub many times over many years and it would be nice if the darts players were banned. They take over and make you feel very unwelcome.

Relaxing place for a drink but the food is pretty bad, especially if you are vegetarian. Everything is over cooked. Toilets usually stink and the smell seeps into the pub. Games machine is very addictive. Only one good member of staff (Dave), the rest aren't very personable.

Went to this pub again but food seems to be going backwards in quality.

Stopped here for lunch, but left after one drink. Menu was awful. There was no atmosphere. Toilets hadn't been cleaned and there were no locks on the doors. I used to like this place but now it's a dive. Never going back.

Excellent food, staff and location. Very warm and homely feeling. Would definitely go again. Looking forward to going again in the summer.

Slow service. Rubbish food. Burger was described as home made but what you actually get is a Birdseye style burger with a cheese slice and cheap oily chips. All the meals are over priced. Could be really nice but the staff obviously aren't interested in making an effort.

The Dirty Habit, Hollingbourne
I liked the look and feel of this place. Food was very good and served in good time. Only down side was the odd tasting coke in tiny glasses. Beautiful area and friendly staff. High point was seeing may father in-law bang his head against a beam as he read the sign to duck.

If you get the head chef then you're in for a treat. We've had some wonderful meals there and his wife is very warm and friendly. A great atmosphere thanks to both of them but if you're unlucky and go when he's not in, the food is not so good. Had a very disappointing meal last time I went and would definitely call ahead next time to ask which chef is on.

Great looking pub, but that's it. Awful food, veggie burger was burnt on the outside and frozen in the middle. Before this we were considering using this pub for our wedding reception, but when we saw the chef arrive with bags of frozen food from Morrisons we were put off.

The White Horse, Bearsted Green
I used to like this pub, but it changed ownership and became very trendy. New look interior does not fit with village. Someone got it very wrong, but it seems to attract a lot of customers still. Probably not the same customers that used to eat there.
Plus points. Nice location. Clean. Friendly staff.

Unfriendly staff. Cafe style eating area. No atmosphere. Food was obviously not fresh. The plaice goujons stank. Had a distinct feeling of being a very "local" pub for "local" people. Didn't feel welcome and wouldn't go again.

Nice clean pub. Nice friendly staff. Food was excellent on first visit. 3 out of 4 meals good on second visit. Carrots in a vegetable panini is an odd choice which the waiter agreed with. But otherwise great. The outside space is wonderful to enjoy in the sunshine. Would happily go again.

Nice looking pub in a lovely location, but that is all that is good about it. The staff are rude and quick to get in a mood if you ask a question. Noticed the staff mocking my grandfather for being deaf, luckily he didn't notice himself. The food is poor to say the least. Dried up salad. Small portions. Nothing tasted fresh. Wouldn't go again.

This is the only pub I have been to that I would recommend to another person. The food is amazing. I haven't got a bad word to say about the place. Decor, surroundings and staff are all good. Price reflects the quality of the food and service. The menu changes with the seasonal ingredients available in the local area so you know you're always getting the best, fresh, food. I love it so much I had my wedding reception there, family birthdays and hope to have many more wonderful meals there over the years.

The Old Buttermarket, Canterbury
The place looks amazing, like a traditional English pub geared up for tourists. The menu looks good with lots of choice. But the staff were unable to commit to conversation, just a chuckle and then walk away. Staff were unable to take orders for drinks and food correctly. The pint of bitter was actually 1/2 a pint with 1/2 a shandy poured in to top it up. My food order was forgotten then cooked in the microwave. I ate it as I was so hungry but spent the rest of the day feeling ill.
Very disappointing. Wouldn't go again.

The Three Chimneys, Biddenden
Chose this pub as we were out with the dog and not many pubs accept dogs. Very nice old pub. Warm friendly welcome. Food was excellent. My dog even got a drink on the house. My pregnant wife hasn't enjoyed food at all for 9 weeks but loved every bit of it today. Will be going back again very soon.
