Well I havent left a review in 5 years. But going to the Coburn today compelled me to resurrect my account. Its the first time ive been since the refurb. Im by no means a regular; I work nearby but usually visit once a month with colleagues for a good booze up. We Always loved the genuine honest feel to the place and its why we always went here rather than the Morgan.
But that character and charm have been gutted along with the old furniture. I couldnt put it better than the reviewer below - it looks like a bloody tea rooms where old women eat cake. I dont know if the place was struggling but it always seemed pretty busy to me. If it where my regular local i'd feel quite betrayed that the pub had comletely changed identity in order to find a better class of customer. Only had the one, it wasnt particularly nice. I think I'll be using The Little Driver or BowBells in future.

toto51, yeah thats a real shame- I hope you get the police involved so they can investigate it. Because thats just unnacceptable. I hate it when I try and sneak spirits into pubs and they get confiscated, but when they refuse to give it back... well that just takes the piss. By the way the next time you post something, anything for that matter, on a website, it might be worth reading over what you read and making sure it MAKES SENCE. Or were you pissed when you signed up and wrote this one comment?

anyway about the pub - nothing special, has a wetherspoons air about it. when you go its not advisable to sneak spirits in.

Decent boozer - has a juke box with some decent tracks and its got quite a decent clientelle - usual mix of Camdenites but not so freaky you feel out of place.

Not bad by Lewisham's standards - I use it sometimes on the way home to watch the Champions League games - wouldn't go out to go here though - usually have a pint of stella, no complaints.

Very grim - went here recently and everyone was pissed - there was an old bloke at the bar who had a tracheotomy and he was smoking a cigerette through the hole in his throat. stayed for 1 and left.

Went to a few pubs when i visited Bath recently, this one was my favourite - very good location and they have a decent selection- If i lived in Bath this'd be my local
17 Jun 2010 23:23
studenty type bar - quite lively. nice outside area as previously said, not bad.
17 Jun 2010 23:21
Live music venue, it's quite unique to the area and for that I like it - if you want live Rock music and your in SE London this the only place to go -
17 May 2010 16:18
Better than average 'spoons - okay for starting a night out but like every wetherspoons I've ever been to there's usually a punch up later on in the evening. 4/10

ENORMOUS pub... been here a few times, mostly to watch the football- nothing wrong with it really, aside from feeling a bit soulless. Could do a lot better - don't go out of your way to visit. 5/10

I like this place - been here a couple of times and it hasn't dissapointed. it's not where you take the inlaws for a nice sunday lunch but for a midweek drink and to watch the football its a fine local. The Stella's always been fresh and the barmaid's been friendly on every occasion. Vast selection of bar snacks :-)

used to drink here a few years back, (don't know why now looking back) - crappy little pub, crap beer with off food; as said previously, wouldnt take a lot to make this pub decent, at the moment though the place is full of loners and the two old women who work here are bloody miserable.
8 Mar 2010 01:41
this has been closed for years, should stay that way too - shithole.
8 Mar 2010 01:32
decent enough for a drink - crap food though - has a beer garden which is always good - place is very average though and overpriced for what it is
generous 6/10

The Cutty Sark Tavern, Greenwich
Love this pub - go here regularly. In summer is great to sit out front in front of thames, in winter very cosy and warm. Great selection of beer and food is top notch - i recommend the steak and ale pie as well as fish and chips. Staff also very friendly and on the ball. Best pub in greenwich.
8 Mar 2010 01:11
Not the best pub in Greenwich (that accolade goes to the cutty sark) but still very good. one to add to a crawl through greenwich.. 7.5 / 10

Good for beer and breakfast. breakfast is veeeeery nice. service can be slow. no natural light but who needs that after a night shift?
8 Mar 2010 00:35
I actually dont mind this pub.. if all your after is a beer garden and a pint then its fine - its quite picturesque in the summer out the back and loads of tables so you always find a seat. does attract a few druggie/chav types, and a number of younger folk, and dont eat the food as its shite.
8 Mar 2010 00:09
crap pub that could be good - massive building and garden let down by the chavvy clientelle and rubbish drinks.. 3/10

The Princess of Wales, Blackheath
Very nice in the summer - you can sit on the heath and drink yourself silly... food is bloody horrible though -
3 Nov 2009 16:30
Good beer in selection and quality, food is also decent and reasonable. releaxed/nice atmosphere
3 Nov 2009 16:15
One of the better places Bromley has to offer- pool table/outdoor terrace/jukebox/games machine/decent music ... only thing lacking is the quality of the beer and when I have drank here I've had to resort to spirits after the first one

The Coach and Horses, Beckenham
I like this place. Great beer, very friendly atmosphere, has Sky sports and a Beer garden. What more could you ask for? Best pub in Beckenham
3 Nov 2009 16:03
Better than O'Neils next door (though that isn't saying much). Ideal pub to watch football/six nations in. Decent enough beer.

This place is not a pub. Not by a long shot. This is a restaurant and caters only for suit-and tie types from Canary Wharf. When I went the staff where like robots, there was no engagement with them. The food and drink where outragously expensive, had a meal in the terrace and when it was done we couldn't wait to leave, there is absolutely no atmosphere in the place. This is just an All Bar One with bells on, and as said by another reviewer, only for the blueberry brigade.
For rich snobby soulless types; 10/10
every one else; 1/10

Not a bad pub, been here a number of times and had a few meals here - ordered a steak here before which was cold when it got to my table, however had a roast dinner on sunday and it was VERY nice in both quality and portions. Decent beer available, service was quite sloppy though (first guy that served me walked off half way through ordering). I'll give it 7/10.

I went here the other day prior to a gig at the Academy. As I left the pub, there, right in front of me and all the people smoking outside, was a man taking a rock of crack out of a plastic bag. Beer very gassy, had an eclectic bunch of Pensioners, Yardies, Rude Boys, Gipsies and Poles. Everyone was pissed. Toilets smelled like a rabbit hutch. Other than that not bad.

The Swan on the Green, West Peckham
Very nice pub.. brew their own beers which all taste lovely. also do some nice german/belgian lager which will blow your socks off. blinding setting, cricket green outside, also have morris men doing their shows from time to time. can't recommend this pub highly enough.

This is a quality boozer. Great beer, great food, can't recommend this place enough 10*
23 Mar 2009 16:07
Good food, good drink, do Hurlimaans and Oranjeboom as well as others, also have a very decent carvery on a sunday...splendid setting overlooking the lake but it really is in the middle of nowhere and you need to cab it to get here. high 7/10
23 Mar 2009 16:03
Very decent boozer I used to regularly frequent when I lived in the area, decent beer - nice atmosphere, very friendly staff, probably the best pub for miles. 8/10

The Tickled Trout, West Farleigh
Had steak and kidney pudding here yesterday, was bloody horrible...pastry was just stodge and soaked through. I did have a meal here some months back that wasnt bad (if a little pricey), but after yesterday I won't be eating here again. Apart from the food, the pub is sound; good sized garden, really nice building, good selection of beer which has been nice on each occasion I've been here.
Food = 2/10
Drink = 8/10

The Plume of Feathers, Greenwich
Very nice pub, had Sunday dinner here, huge joint with enough crackling to feed a family. on the whole very nice, although gravey slightly watery. staff where very friendly, drinks where very reasonably priced as was the food. decent selection of ales and draught beer. high 8/10

Very nice pub, just off of Bow Rd. Beer always tastes nice, food aint bad, very friendly bar-staff. 8 1/2
28 Feb 2009 16:24
Very nice when the sun's out, you used to be able to sit on the green outside and drink but last time i was here some pencil-kneck from the council tried moving me on. beer is very nice, but outragously expensive, had some mussels here once, they where also good. 7 1/2

The Dolphin, Sydenham
Beer here is exceptional. Its more expensive than most pubs but relatively speaking youre getting a decent bang for your buck. Always a good selection of premium lagers, ales, bitters and stout.
This 5/10 average is way out of line. I gave this place an average review some years back but it really has come on leaps and bounds
