Nice old style country(ish) pub, wish there was more like this left, good selection of ales/ lagers etc, not too expensive, good service at the bar. Nice food too, very tasty and reasonable prices . One thing though was how quiet the restaurant area was though- I mean its very well layed out, tastefully decorated, space between tables was good too as I dont like being overlooked too much if you know what I mean. I guess as I write at lot of people just cant afford to eat out as much, and thats a shame as this place is really making the effort and deserves more. We were there on a Saturday night 8.30- 10.30 and only us and two other couples that eve. ivanski - 14 May 2012 16:17 |
The sort of pub that looks like it's going to be a good one as you approach, and appearances don't deceive. Sensible split between the restaurant and bar area meaning that the left-hand side (as you enter) retains the atmosphere of a traditional village boozer. Four real ales on, including a fine pint of the locally-ubiquitous Harveys. Bursting at the seams last night during the Yalding Yuletide celebrations, but the staff were making a good effort at getting everybody served reasonable quickly. rpadam - 6 Dec 2009 12:05 |

Restaurant layout very good, with tables not too close together. Starters were mushrooms and goats cheese (good) and chicken liver pate (OK but a little dry). Main courses taken were scallops (excellent), pheasant (excellent), pasta (OK but could have used more sauce as it was a little dry) and fish pie. Wine - NZ pinot noir - was excellent, and good value t 19.50. Will definitely go again. Treacle pudding was outstanding. nigelew - 8 Feb 2009 21:55 |
