Interesting that it's so long since the last review. My most recent experience (five years ago) was a disastrous family outing because of unacceptable food in the downstairs carvery and long waits for even worse service. It resulted in massive discounts/free drinks on the night plus hefty free vouchers (unused!) for a further visit. Why don't I see any recent glowing endorsements? pubobserver - 2 Sep 2013 19:24 |
Good food, good drink, do Hurlimaans and Oranjeboom as well as others, also have a very decent carvery on a sunday...splendid setting overlooking the lake but it really is in the middle of nowhere and you need to cab it to get here. high 7/10 sir_adam_of_downham - 23 Mar 2009 16:03 |
A typical purpose built factory type pub, that said it has a lovely setting by the lake, food and drinks are expensive and staff always seem miserable/ unhelpful, good if you have kids. nicnocs1 - 24 Dec 2008 11:35 |
Lovely little pub, situated by a lake. Outdoor play for the kids who are welcomed. A little out the way, which makes it nicely situated. Can use the fastrack buses to get there just a short walk from the galleon boulevard stop. Lovely atmosphere, decor and location. Well worth a visit for a drink or meal. Fair prices. lucys2004 - 9 Jun 2008 09:35 |
Yeah true, you really do have to drive, or get a cab if drinking. You wouldnt know this place was here Lovely in the summer sitting outside near the lake you could think u was in the country great place to take the wife or girlfriend for a nice friendly chat/pint They have done the place up a treat multi levels, must have cost a bomb. Friendly staff, shep neame range, spitfire, orangeboom, etc Great Pub, and dont seem to rush you out at closing time. Also has carvery restuarant downstairs I think they make a lot of trade from this Highly recommend the place !!!! notasipper - 9 Nov 2006 19:46 |
