The Queens, Stoke Pound

We ate here and cannot fault the food or service. Wye Valley guest was superb (IPA). The lunchtime backround music was somewhat annoying (unless you are under 20!). We have eaten at their sister pub (the Greyhound in Bromsgrove) and are impressed with that too.

The Leathern Bottle, Lewknor

Having aqquired a dog within the last year, walking has had to become a necessary part of life. And aren't I glad too! This smashing pub ticks all the boxes..dog friendly..easy parking..great walks..and the beer was perfect (Brakespears Special as guest) and the food was 10/10..But don't call the barmaid/landlady JANET !!

The Coburg, Liverpool

I totally agree with Mr Monkfish . I have been in here twice (staying at local hotel) and both times found the staff and locals friendly and welcoming. Shame there isn't some trad ale, but will deffo go back regardless

The Yew Tree Inn, Highclere

We have just returned home from an overnight stay at The Yew Tree, I don't think I will eat again for a week!!
The Place:- A lovely building, extensively and tastefully refurbished. Our bedroom was modern and comfortable.
The Food:- Go to their website and download the menu/wine list. As this was a special occasion I knew what the prices were before I went. My concern was that the food would not live up to the cost. I needn't have worried, the starters, mains and puds were superb! We could fault nothing.
Breakfast too (we both had full english) was just as good. (our only comment would be that a field mushroom would have been preferable to the button ones!).
The Drinks:- After booking in I tried the Butts Barbus Barbus, the Theakstons Black Sheep and she had the Adnams Bitter (there was A West Berkshire brewery Mr Chubbs Lunchtime bitter and Timothy Taylors Landlord). Before and after the meal I had Westons Old Rosie cider (there was also Westons Bounds Brand). All were perfectly presented and I was told that the cellar had just been refurbished so that all beers/ciders were served at exactly the correct temperature - which they were.
The Staff:- From Iain, the Maitre d', to Mark, the barman, we had exceptional service! Our compliments go to them all for making our visit a truely memorable occasion.

My missus went here this week and gave it the thumbs up. She says it is better than we we went in the autumn and we thought it was okay then..I'll see if she can treat me to a visit and report back..ciao

The Home Sweet Home Inn, Roke

Wow! Who could have imagined the difference 6 months could make. The food here is now surely the best in the region. Whilst other local pubs falter this one continues to thrive..dare we think of 'tyre' type awards? I'm so glad it's my local

The Home Sweet Home Inn, Roke

Okay, the handover is complete. The beer/music fest last weekend was brill (22 guest ales!!) Siggy has two full-time chefs turnng out locally sourced meals. Be aware that the food is cooked to order- so be prepared to wait....if you want something to do whilst your appetite grows-criticise his smelling pistakes on the menou broad!!! (BTW, the phone is back on line)

The Home Sweet Home Inn, Roke

The new landlord is making a real effort, a beer festival on for the August bank holiday, he has brought in an award winning chef (meals and service have improved no-end). He tries to use all local produce and trade is building. As I type he is battling to get his phone reconnected (last idiot refuses to pay the bill!) so he is using his mobile to run the business..07868689383..(sorry to sound like an advert but I would like him to do well)

The Home Sweet Home Inn, Roke

There is another new Landlord! The previous one had given up interest in the place (trying to save his other gaff?) and whilst the staff tried their best they were receiving no support.
The previous manager, Siggy (pronounced Ziggy) has taken it over and will use his worldwise expertise in the catering/hotel trade to turn things around. Give him time...

The Buthay Inn, Wickwar

Well we stayed here last month, and what a fantastic time we had. We met other TOGS for the day. The pub iself is lovely, beer was perfectly kept, the food (including brekkie) was first class.
Our double room was very well appointed.
We are doing it all again in September!!

The Red Lion, Bromsgrove

A hospitable pub which serves excellent real ales with which to wash down the reasonably priced and superb home-made food. Many of the 'regulars' have now gone on to the 'hostillery in the sky' and you will often wish that the lanky long-haired toffee-nosed scouse would join them (wink!!) Regular Beer festivals used to be held, not sure if this is still the case. Multi CAMRA award winner

The Home Sweet Home Inn, Roke

The 'new' owner took over last April and is trying to build up a trade for food, which is what the layout is best suited to. Beer-wise, there is always 6X and Henry's + one other on pull. Stowford Press, Amstel, Stella,Fosters and Guinness make up the kegs. There is a fine selection of wines, and 'top-shelves'.We have eaten there 6 times and the food/service has ranged from poor to very good. Perhaps time will tell!
I will report back

The Philharmonic, Liverpool

We met some friends in the 'Brahms' room late Friday afernoon and the six of us stayed for a meal which we had upstairs. The food was fantastic (quality & value) and ALL the beers were on! We were spolied for choice! Service was quick & efficient. My first time there, will not be my last
