The Star, St John's Wood

Very much open on Saturday 12 April. Lovely, old fashioned pub. Friendly barmaid and customers. Popped in as part of a Regent's Canal/Primrose Hill pub walk. Would visit again as it has lots of character. Its future is looking better than most anticipated (for the time being at least) due to strong reaction from locals and the general public and planning permission to convert the pub to residential housing was withdrawn on 17 January.

The Cat's Back, Wandsworth

According to a notice in the window, this pub is currently closed pending refurbishment by new owners, Harveys of Lewes. Should hopefully be a sensitive makeover if there other London pub is anything to go by (The Royal Oak in Southwark).

The Colton Arms, Barons Court

I visited this lovely pub on 27 December and was immediately given a friendly welcome by the landlord. After engaging in conversation with a regular at the bar, I offered him a drink only to be told "no I'll buy you one as you're new here".

The pub has lots of character filled into a small space. I would throroughly recommend a visit if ever you find yourself in the Barons Court area. Indeed, I would recommend getting yourself to the Barons Court area if only for this pub. Check opening times for afternoons beforehand though as this was my second time of visiting but it was closed on the previous occasion at 5pm.

The Captain Kidd, Wapping

A group of us popped in here yesterday as part of a pub crawl from Tower Hill to Canary Wharf. We found the bar staff to be very friendly and the pub had a good atmosphere for a Saturday afternoon in early December. Excellent view of the river. The upstairs restauarnt was the only place where you could eat. We didn't, we just drank!

Earl of St Vincent, Egloshayle

I visited this pub a couple of weeks ago & thought it was lovely. The barmaid was very friendly and was happy to talk to us about the 200+ clocks on show and the twice yearly change each one needs when they need to go forward & back. The landlady then appeared and she was also very nice. The beers were well kept and I would come here regularly if only I didn't live 250 miles away! Not sure why previous reviews mention that it's mainly a restaurant as I didn't get that impression & the landlady said that isn't what she is running.

The Barley Mow, Marylebone

This is now open again!!!

The Barley Mow, Marylebone

Sign in the window states that the pub will be reopening soon. Local workers have mentioned that they've seen Fullers beers being delivered and a quick peak through the window did indeed show their range of ales. Hopefully no drastic 'improvements' will occur to the interior.

The Green Man, Aylesbury

Such a nice small pub in central Aylesbury. The landlady and her barstaff are very friendly. They have regular live music and a restaurant. Certainly one of the better pubs in town.

The Hobgoblin, Marylebone

I am currently sat in this pub, which I have been in on a few occasions previously. The last two times I have been greeted by a barmaid whose face would crack if she smiled. This is not a personal attack but she put my drink in front of me without any eye contact or friendly manner & I've since been watching her serve other people with an expression of absolute contempt. I thought my visit would be third time lucky with her but I've yet to see her raise the smallest of grins to anyone. I will not return here, which is a shame because the pub itself is nice.

The Globe, Brighton

I've been to Brighton loads of times but until last week had never visited this pub. It was quiet on Saturday afternoon but we still managed to stay for a couple of rounds. Quirky decor with old LP covers for menus. Friendly staff who served me an excellent pint of Dark Star's Hophead. There is another bar downstairs with character but this was closed on our visit.

The Crown, Brighton

A group of us visited here last Sunday lunchtime to read the papers and were met with a warm welcome from the lady behind the bar. This is an attractive locals pub adorned with wood panelling and photos and paintings with a horse racing theme. Nice pint of Harveys enjoyed. Worth popping in if you're in the area.

The Hand In Hand, Brighton

Visited here last weekend and really liked this small pub. For some reason they were not selling their own beers but had a good selection of real ales none the less. Lots to see on the walls and a few surprises on the ceiling! When next in Brighton I'll certainly pop in again.

The Anchor Tap, Tower Bridge

Enjoyed a quick pint here last weekend. The barman was extremely friendly when we walked in, which was welcoming. The pub has lots of character, even the room with the pool table! Situated near the historic Shad Thames and Tower Bridge, the pub had tourists from various countries on our visit wanting to enjoy a traditional London pub. They seemed to be impressed. As was I.

The Lord Clyde, Borough

Thoroughly recommended. I visited here a couple of days ago & would like to post here my thanks for the gentleman who gave up his bar stool by the fire for my sister as soon as we walked in. This made for a great first impression of this lovely pub. Lots of character (and characters!) with a friendly chap behind the bar serving. Good beer selection.

The Royal Oak, Borough

Visited here in early January and I was most impressed. A regular named Richard chatted away to us during our visit and has since emailed with a list of other London pubs he recommends. We were made to feel very welcome immediately and the two beers I tried from the Harveys range were excellent. I shall be returning very soon!

The Woolpack, Stoke Mandeville

It's open again. Popped in for lunch yesterday for one of their preview days. The food was great and the new colour scheme is much warmer than previously. One good thing is that the pub area has been extended behind the fireplace when you enter, so more room for drinkers. Good pint of Landlord was enjoyed.

The Queensbury Arms, Brighton

Whenever I'm in Brighton I always make sure I pay a visit to this hidden gem. It's tiny but that's one of its strong points. The cosy atmosphere & all the theatre posters from years back make the Queensbury unique. The bar staff are friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended.
