Not one of the better Wetherspoons pub, but to be fair I did go in the afternoon, might well be worth another try though

Good for a cheap night out so you need to save the pennies , but to be honest it's only really good on student night, but at other times the type of crowd isn't the best.

The Elephant and Castle, Bolton
Wasn't too bad here, slightly chavvy but it is good for football and the drinks were fairly reasonably priced. But there is much better pubs in Bolton.

I could be wrong, but i walked past it this evening and it looked like it was either closed or being refurbished.

Now called 'The Ram and Shackle' and it was virtually full of students, personally this was a good thing. They now do XXXX for 1 so it has seemingly improved.

Not very good in all honesty, i waited for ages to be served and when it was finally my turn to served, the barmaid just blanked me and served 2 women who had just arrived!!
I promptly walked out! I'm prepared to give it another try as the atmosphere seemed fairly decent, but another scenario like it and I'm definitely never going again!

The Dog and Partridge, Didsbury
Packed. Need i say more? Although i did go in on Friday night. Seriously though, it was alright, i wouldn't recommend it but i also wouldn't tell people not to go.

Not bad, definitely not the best pub in Didsbury but it was a decent local pub, i'd go again.

It wants to be like The Metropolitan, albeit a bit cheaper and not as good. It's not a particularly bad pub, i just wouldn't go out of your way to go to it.

It was alright i guess, people rave on about it but i found it a tad over-rated, nonetheless it's alright though, just not as good as people may say it is.

I'd agree with the previous posts, it's a tad pretentious, but to be fair it was a weeknight i went down there so perhaps it's a bit better at the weekend.

Nothing out of the ordinary really, in fact, it wasn't good, i'd only go for the cheap Foster's to be honest. It's too awful to stay for long periods though.

Pretty cool pub, i got a cheap pint of Grolsch on one particular evening which pleased me, i'd recommend O'Neills wholeheartedly. A good pub with a good atmosphere.

Following on my review below, i now go here every Monday for the Monday Club, 1.59 for a pint of Fosters/Carling/Carlsberg and John Smiths or Boddingtons, forget which one.
So yeah, you can't go far wrong with that!

Good place, decent atmosphere with the odd idiot but it's impossible to find a place in Fallowfield that doesn't have the odd idiot, probably the best pub in Fallowfield.

I've been here a few times, but once out of choice. It disappointed me as it seems devoid of any atmosphere, but with bottles being 1.50 i may well give it one final chance.

I like this pub, although it did briefly go down in my estimation when ordering a drink a few months back and the barmaid wasn't particularly nice, she just looked like she couldn't be bothered. Nonetheless it's an alright pub.

I went in one afternoon for a pint and liked this pub, albeit it was mainly due to the jukebox, it was fairly quiet though, but it must get more packed in the evening.
3 May 2008 19:28
I've been in a couple of times, it's a nice pub, good atmosphere, although it was on a Friday night and they have a disco and i usually don't really like them but it was a nice enough pub.
3 May 2008 19:23
I liked The Didsbury, but i'm not sure if i like it as much these days, i went in a few weeks on a Saturday night and it was virtually empty and devoid of any atmosphere, but to be fair it was at 11:30 and perhaps most of the customers went on into Manchester or Fallowfield.
3 May 2008 19:18
I went there last Summer for a friend's birthday, it was a decent pub, although one of the regulars scared me a little, but apart from that, a decent pub.
3 May 2008 19:16
An alright pub, but one of the barmaids can't get my order right sometimes! Still i have a laugh about it. Probably the only decent pub in Rusholme.
3 May 2008 12:49
A decent pub, no way near brilliant but since it's a Wetherspoons and the alcohol is cheap, it's good but i think the cheap prices make it good.

The Friendship Inn, Fallowfield
It's a nice pub, i don't get in too often but i like it very much, nice mix of people in here. Worth a visit!
3 May 2008 12:46
It's an alright pub, but if you're not a student you're hardly missing out.
3 May 2008 12:45
I like the Metropolitan generally, but unless you get there early, avoid on a Friday and Saturday night, it's far too packed and it takes a while to get served but i guess that's the price for popularity.
3 May 2008 12:41
I've never heard anyone ever say a bad word against The Red Lion, it's a great pub with a great atmosphere. Arguably the best pub in Manchester!
3 May 2008 12:39
The Railway is ok but even though it's a nice enough pub it's far too small and because of this it's always packed. I'd probably go more often if it was a bit bigger.
3 May 2008 12:38
It's ok, nothing special though. It's pretty much just like all the rest of the Varsity chain really.

The Old House At Home, Withington
I agree with Wazza407's review, although i don't personally miss the live entertainment too much, especially the one's who performed on Friday!
Whilst it's the not the greatest pub in the world, it's perfect if you just want a couple of quiet pints.
