Have not been there since 2005,but it was my favourite pub on st marys and served one of the best meals i have ever tasted, lamb in mint and cranberry,it was so impressive i have been recommending their food to anyone going to the scilly's.
I am sorry to see some of the more recent comments,as i am looking forward to a return trip and was planning to eat mainly in the Bishop and Wolf.
The meals i had and the beers both in 2003 and 2005 were some of the best i have ever had,so this would be a great loss if the comments i see on here since 2007 are accurate,i am going to rate this at 5 but it would have been 9 in 2005

So this hasn't changed much over the years, back in 1998 it was run by an arrogant arse and it seems from the above comments,it is about the same,i would return for another visit but thought i would check that AA had either moved on or died, but seems he must have bred more.
What a waste of a prime location.
The biggest problem with this sort of pub is the disposable customer attitude, theres plenty more where they came from,so abuse them, lose them NEXT !
Nevermind there are many pubs in LOOE and many are welcoming and pleasent, that's why i continue to avoid The Harbour Moon.

Great Pub,good food, fair Beer, friendly Staff and busy in summer months, better when off season as easier to get a parking space and easier to get a meal if you haven't booked in advance,if you try that in high season you'll go elsewhere as they get booked up.
Locals are friendly without being in your face ,all in all a good place to visit.

Highly recommend this little pub,the landlord is genuine, the food is very well done, the beer selection good and the Glasses clean, the tables outside and the pleasent outlook worth the trip on a warm evening ,the loo's clean and the locals friendly without being nosey or territorial .
Good off road parking.
Warm decor, not a theme pub,not a loud music or tele pub,a real pleasure to visit.

Give this a miss, things haven't changed since the 2007 comment about missing landlord and abusive customers.
Either Mr Clayton caught it on a good day or he has rose coloured specs.
Been in nicer pub's in the backend of the deprived area's of inner City's.
Some of the residents nearby said they would rather go T total than use the pub under the current Landlord M Jones.
If you find yourself in the village and the British Legion is open use that instead, and ask in there before venturing to the Rod and Line, hopefully it may have a new Landlord the next time i visit.
There are 3 other pubs about 2 or so miles in most directions, try them,The Elliot,St Germans,The Halfway House Polbathic or The Bullers arms Landrake, all far outstrip this one.

Food is nice, even though it may look scruffy.Bit like the Landlord actually,he can be abrupt and a little mumbled.
Cuts a few corners ,a penny pincher by the look of his attire,Beer a tad on the expensive side, assume he adds something to his clothing fund ! He prefers to sell you a bottle to save on cleaning glasses, you can't miss the fellow,he reminds me a bit of trigger in only fools and horses.Good beer gardens where you can escape trig between beers, but some of the other customers can be more irratating than trigs enthralling conversation.
All in all worth a visit, but glad it's not my Local.
