Absolute crap, more like a creche or nursery for a start, and the staff blatantly don't want to serve you. Very disappointed.

I find it hard to believe in any positive review of this place.....this place is absolutely BLATANTLY hopeless in every way.....The only redeeming feature is the young manageress, but she is fighting a hopelessly losing battle with the rest of the super incompetent staff there......

To me this pub has been very lack lustre for ages, and will probably disappear quite soon.....

Hawthorns Hotel, Bar and Restaurant, Glastonbury
I have just been here again, and I feel it only fair to say that prince Valium is a new man! He seemed as though transformed into an excellent and attentive barman. Love the more mature bar woman here, god knows what they would do without her. I have to say I found the younger girl a bit stroppy and unhelpful. Sorry, and sorry for not particularly reviewing the beer, the service means a lot to me.

The George and Pilgrim, Glastonbury
Another dead end, the bar is now like the rooms, unclean, unattended, uncaring, and miserable. Cheap back street feel to everything, the music, the food (if any), repeatedly no one serving, totally off putting, and no one gives a

Hawthorns Hotel, Bar and Restaurant, Glastonbury
I quite like the weird hotch potch of blues musicians here every Sunday, and the free hot roast potatoes are amazing, but the young barman does tend to remind me of a snail on Valium. You virtually have to snap your fingers in his face every few seconds to remind him that he is not only alive but it is also his job to serve people drinks!

Too many smoking, phone tapping zombies blocking the doorway, so moved on.

The Riflemans Arms, Glastonbury
Dear God, what's happened to this pub?! Is it me or is half the booze watered down? As for the food, a health and safety issue I would think. A large rude, dirty slob for the chef that produces the dodgiest slop EVER!

After reading the reviews, and work took me to Coventry, I just had to try this place. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha !

Yeah, it's good, I like it. The Pedigree in a jug was excellent, and the staff were eager to please. Definitely will return.

The George and Pilgrim, Glastonbury
Well, unfortunately we're back in Derby now. We LOVE our yearly visit to Glastonbury, the weird shops, cafes, Abbey ruins, the people. the Tor! Our food and drink in the George and Pilgrim was OK apart from the tattooed madmen at the bar both days running. Avoid eye contact, don't go to the bar until he's either gone outside to smoke or gone to the loo, and yes, there actually was a fight involving him. On chatting with one or two locals, they informed me this was happening quite often. Was he asked to leave? No!

Visiting Glastonbury again at last, and to my dismay I see that this pub STILL has its' doorway clogged with leering, smoking slobs. They seem to think that minimizing the chances of new customers ever trying this pub a virtue.

God almighty! HOW! WHY! WHAT IS IT?
Is it a pub? Is it a hotel? NO, it's a shit hole!

Weird place, sometimes fab, sometimes bloody awful. The beer is usually good in every way, only very rarely does it seem to be less than great. The staff are the other way round however. Only very rarely are they civilised. Pity, because I really like the range of ales.

I haven't bothered with this pub for ages. Hopeless, rude, uncaring staff or owners.

In a good naturted way, I tried calling the boss Bob, as in Bob Hoskins. He was not amused.

The Market House Inn, Glastonbury
A great bank holiday visit to Glastonbury. Im fairly new to this reviewing lark, but have started researching pubs a bit before visiting an area. We did go in the Market House Inn. It seemed OK, nothing much to say really, we went in at a safe point in the day perhaps. Reading some of the recent reviews is fascinating. This danchampion for instance really seems to resent hoonkerama and torsteve . I dont get it. All hoonkerama basically says is that there was a police and an ambulance there one night. He doesnt have a go at the landlord or anything. Torsteve is much more to some point or another. Then of course we have this danchampion revealing that there are indeed, TWO ALCOHOL & DRUG ABUSING, FERAL, FOUL-MOUTHED DELINQUENT, LIEING, BRAZEN HARPIES, type people in there at some point. Well, thats basically all that torsteve and hoonkerama are saying isnt it? Also of course, one would now wonder if these types of customers are common in there.
Here are some clips from previous reviewers:-
what can i say about this place, its a gigantic toilet, its flooding the floor wiv horrid people so drunk that they try touching my genitals as i'm going to the bathroom pig.in.a.blanket
Undoubtedly a complete toilet. Should be closed down and start again with a human being or two running it. whatsgoingon
It was raining, and I was walking past when I noticed "House doubles 2-00, so I thought "What the hell?"
Big mistake!
It's still a dire shit-hole. I used to enjoy this place 25-30 years ago, but since Aussie Paul buggered it up, it's been getting worse and worse.
The landlord's a lugubrious bugger, and is VERY unpopular with other businesses in the town. I shall not return Final_Arbiter
If you are an under age chav this is the pub for you! Avoid at all costs! steveg
Then finally we have the breath taking comment from danchampion and m_souris regarding this horrific urinating game!!!!!!
Is this supposed to be good in some way?!!!?

Love it here, but will definitely be on the lookout for pints of spillages !

The Old Poet's Corner, Ashover
Oh, it's good here alright, but the food is definitely not what it was. Pub chefs / cooks these days all seem to be the same, disinterested, half asleep, etc...Pity, as it's put me off going there as often as I used to.
7 Apr 2010 10:02
Yes, staff always seem to say the nearest easy thing to customers to shut them up don't they ? It's OK here I suppose, pretty lack lustre.

The King Arthur, Glastonbury
A group of 6 of us went into this pub this Sunday (30-10-2016) at 14-40, and there was absolutely no service there whatsoever. We waited, and waited, but nothing. As we left we realised that the young man blocking the door way was the would be barman. The King William just up the road fared much better thanks.
