Interesting PM. Enlightened is a chap called Chris Roberts who hates the fair pint campaigners apparently and uses different aliases to smear those he dislikes and does it on 'morning advertiser' webpage too. What a sad sad individual. Chris - go get a life.

Very well done is the last comment i would offer to someone who has parted with hard earned cash and poured it into a pubco's pockets. Very very stupid is slightly more apt ! Its a mugs game unless you have alot of and experience or a brand / reputation. ( eg : capitol pub Co or antic ltd )
No enlightened , you are still obviuosley a silly old fool as i am not one of the moronic foul mouthed cretins - my first visit was after my last posting. Never knew the previuos landlord, tho you clearly have a pesronal grudge against him judging by your posts you pathetic aloof fool
we have the pheonix, the sun and doves, the silver buckel will soon reopen as the tiger and that's within 1 mile radius. Clearly certain people have no grasp on the local market nor distances. 5 miles and that covers east dulwich and brixton too !
the GC will yet again become a smeared blot on the landsacpe for loosers like enlightened to go and er , be enlightened.. within an empty pub. Great - morons like him stay in one place !
enlightened - if you want to counter me with more childish remarks may i suggest you PM me you idiot !

I am not entirely sure what "bumwackit" was implying with those comments ( what a terrible front / name for a blatant insider ) but i am guessing he / she means PEN!$. Well its actually my surname's first initial for the record !
And I bet they didnt reckon on that being retorted ..foolish
I popped in here on friday last week for another try and it was really very quiet for a friday evening. At around 7pm when normally the hospital staff were formally there in their droves - it has become something of a ghost town but as per others review perhaps it is something to do with its location. Or management or lack of. Or size.. or all 3
the ale was quite sour this time and rather cloudy , phil the manger was still the same twit and felt the beer was 'fine' tho i had to remind him age provides wisdom ! nobody was eating so i did not want to bother trying again after my last disaapoinment.
i will be back mid summer to see if its still open at this rate like so many other boarded up pubs ! They must be haemoraging an awful lot of ( daddys ? ) money

crikey some people do get there knickers in a twist over a pubcos fortunes...or ahem should i say lack off !! Dear oh dear !!
the tup is still the same as it always was - devoid of much soul - but delivers the product admirably
good honest stuff

i think paul25 should CHILL ... !!
yes its certainly improved since i've returned and doesnt try to be something it aint ! the extremely poncey "manor bah and grill" should take note
does need a bit of tlc at the front and i cant imagine 60 ltres of paint would set the owner back more than 200-00
but back to the bar - yes a great laid back vibe , proper pricea and well kept products
nice !!

The Tooting Tram & Social, Tooting
adam1974
have you not sussed it out re the food yet ? its because they cant do it well and consistantly !
all the venues owned by antic=ltd.com hardly touch the food aspect but are great venues within themselves and thats the usp here , again.
great venue but i'd hate to be balancing the books on this one....... ooeergghh !
13 Mar 2009 17:57
food is great but vibe is a bit lame , still you cant get everything spot on - the tram doesnt do food but the vibe is great !!
13 Mar 2009 17:55
oh dear the trafalgars inhouse reviewers are not the brightest bunch are they now
this place is cacker than cack, the tenanat should be ashamed.
what waste of once a very good pub

Having not been back here for quite some time, i was very dissapointed at how this place has changed - for the worse.
It now has sky tv for the local chavs , friendly or not i'd rather not have them swearing at the top of their voices. my mrs hated it that aspect, so we left fast.
we met 'phil' the rude, arrogant, cocksure & 'i'm a bit of a geezer' manager and got some food which turned out to be as lacking as his character
avoid at all costs

i agree with 'anonymous' apr 23 , this pub is certainly going from strength to strength. Its my local and i love it.
it has a friendly relaxed feel to it. A few 'local' types were making alot of noise when i was in last thursday , the manager told them to tone it down. Nice touch
Music is great too. They have launched a new menu which is italian based and delicious as well as very reasonably priced.

The Royal Standard, Colliers Wood
i braved it to pop in here having read the comments.
yes it was skanky as hell but the locals bite is worse than their bark, so to speak.
i have been to worse non white trash places ( like a squat party in clapton, east london once with street people and gypsies and .. you dont want to know ! ..after the most booze i have ever consumed ) so this was relatively mild.
and yes , i wont be going back there again !!
its a shame as its in a good position and judging by the tup they could do much much better business !
3 Jul 2007 16:51
have to say i agree with other postings .....
a bit of a hhhhmmmm ; a sahem really as it could be great with the right input
3 Jul 2007 16:45
nicest pub in the area by a long way ; not hugely innovative but a steady reliable watering hole for sure. flowers outside a real attraction and always draw me in ! food and ale all good
well done the tup !!
3 Jul 2007 16:41
well as they say ... you cant polish a turd !
this has had its day - used to be a jewel of the south cicra '97
went there a few months back and got stared out by some rude boys. I'm appraoching 40 , white and blue collar worker - dont need this shite !
shame

The Brixton Telegraph, Brixton
its now open
see brixtontelegraph.co.uk - look really good inside and out ; nice chilled vibe and soooo much better than before !!
i look forward to a heavy night there soon !!
3 Jul 2007 16:33
have to agree with some of the previous comments - rude punter in here.
this is my most local pub but i tend not to go in as i want a laid back ambience and tunes.
i heard its just been taken over and i will try it again in a few weeks. I hope the new managers read this and bar some of the customers who are just nobs really
i generally head up to garden house or into totoing if i can be arsed
3 Jul 2007 16:29
we have to give em top marks for effort really , they do try.
i think the r+b , hip hop etc ( rude boy music ) should be scrapped. This is the only late night venue in broadway ( legally.. )
if they played pumping deep house this could be an awsome dj bar. Well , thats my opinion anyways. I have only lived here for about a year and get fed up with the lack of late bars.
its so big, so v hard to 'fill up' but like i say , invest in good djs and advertise it well , keep it FREE entry and it would be rammed IMHO !
good luck bra2far !
3 Jul 2007 16:26
have to agree with posting below
its got a very long way to go until best pub ...
could be a wonderful venue if the landlords kicked out the useless managers and got some in who really cared about it !
its big so hard to fill , but mostly gets filled by geezas and waynettas
shame , but with the southerley gentrification from balham it will surely be done up and sorted out !
3 Jul 2007 16:17
lively narrow bar on other side of central tooting
friendly locals but not sure how theyll fare with smoking ban !!
3 Jul 2007 16:10
the selkirk is a fav in tooting for alot of reasons - good food and great management. It deserves the trade it gets and ahs clearly worked hard to achieve its position.
well done selkirk !

The Manor Bar & Grill, Tooting
the garden house is quickly winning me over.
Have had a consistently good time since going there.
The best thing to have happened in tooting (as far as pubs/bars are concerned)for years

Never went here before the refit, but Ive heard it was rubbish and full of tooting old locals. Now a very nice trendy airy pub , staff are very friendly & laid back . Its only been reopened again recently I think, but I'm really surprised by other remarks . We had food and were impressed with it - as well as the reasonable prices ( burger 7.50.. ) & well thought out menu.
The manager said there was a late license coming soon with djs, live music etc. Nothing else like this in the area so it certainly gets my thumbs up ! will be back when I return from holiday. Oh , and theres a lovely garden at the rear too . Check it out
