Went for a drink with the kids on a lovely spring evening. Inside looks a bit tired, but the garden has a couple of very good play areas for the kids and a massive garden. If a beer outside with the family is what you are after, especially with younger children, then this place is not too bad.

Can't vouch for the food as we only had a drink, but pleasantly surprised by this pub. A good selection of ales, including Butcombe, and a nice beer garden with a play area (all be it small) for the kids. This pub makes a refreshing change from the poor quality of Inns in Alton. We will definitely try a meal here at some point.

The Poacher, South Warnborough
Called in on the off chance on a Sunday lunchtime, and was able to secure a table. Nice although limited selection of beers, and a decent sunday lunch. By 1pm the place was full, so book if you want to go. Staff were all helpful and friendly - one added to the list of 'places to take my friends'.

Nice pub, good range of ales and friendly staff. However the menu was a bit limited (only one game dish) which was a bit of a disappointment, although the food was ok. Could do with losing the tablecloths and candles and the whole 'separate restaurant' look - bit twee for a country pub. Would go back, but only for a beer.

Superb country pub. Good range of ales on tap, and decent food. The starters were disappointingly unadverturous (garlic mushrooms, prawns and avocado, garlic bread, potato skins etc) so save your appetite for the main courses, with a big selection off the main menu and a generous specials board offering steak, venison, and duck amongst others. Decent service particularly as there was a big party in that night. Highly recommended for a hearty meal and decent pint!

The Royal Oak, Lasham
Super-dooper pub - lovely setting, lovely beer - yet to try the food, but with the newly decced out dining room, the chalk board looked very tempting. Add this one to your country crawl!
