The Blacksmiths Arms, Talkin

Busy, friendly pub. Old fashioned interior, decent food at very decent prices. Bedroom small but very clean and again a very good price. Quiet location near Talkin Tarn. All local ales were perfect. Would stay again if in area.

The Plough Inn, Hathersage

Stayed here last week. Lovely room. Really excellent food and ale and good staff. Will certainly stay here again.

The Guy Fawkes Hotel, York

Really dark and atmospheric inside, with candles and a Grandfather clock in the corner. Sitting by the window with a view of an old York street and The Minster you feel like you're in the 18th Century. Had about 8 ales on. Tried one which was perfect. Staff very friendly. Only downside was that the fires weren't on, which was very tight as it was -10 outside.

The Durham Ox, Crayke

Fantastic pub. Got the lot. Excellent food and ale, history, panelled walls, log fires, flagstones and candles. Staff are friendly too and the village is good looking. Perfect 10.

The Crown Inn, Frampton Mansell

Note under new management since Oct 2007. Really nice pub this in great countryside setting. Cosy Cotswold stone interior and open fires, lit by candles. Beer good, food good and service very friendly. Reasonable prices too which is rare these days, so respect.....defo worth a visit.

The Fox and Hounds, Great Wolford

This is the perfect country inn. It's really cosy inside with massive fireplace, settles, beams, candles and the UBU was one the best ales I have ever tasted. The food was very good, but at 14 for a roast was overpriced. Service was excellent. Overall I can't fault this place and it's one of the best pubs I've ever visited. Wish it was my local.

The Rose and Crown, Snettisham

Nice old pub with superb beer (Tom Woods was perfect) and the food was good. Make sure you eat at the restaurant at the front rather than the awful brightly coloured disaster at the back. In fact the whole of the extension at the back lets the place down a bit. Stick to the old part of the pub though and you will enjoy.

The Hoste Arms, Burnham Market

Have to agree re the clientele, but the food was exceptional. Unusual place really, with lots of different areas. Doesn't really feel like a pub. Worth going just for the food and beer. Service was very friendly. Nelson's Revenge was stunning.

The Hatch Inn, Colemans Hatch

Beautiful little pub. Cosy inside, with great food and beer. Only negative would be that it's just way too popular on a Sunday lunchtime. You have to get there at 12 on the dot to get a table. Also it's quite hard to find. Best visit on an evening when you can book. Recommended.

The Griffin Inn, Fletching

This pub has the lot really. Amazing views from the garden (probably the best I've ever seen from a pub), small cosy old interior, superb food and beer. Unfortunately, as a result it is too popular and may be difficult to get a seat. Also the prices are absolutely ridiclous.

The Gin Trap Inn, Ringstead

AA Pub of the Year?! Hmmm not sure about that. Makes you wonder really. The food and service was good, but the menu was very limited indeed. The restaurant is in a an awful conservatory with harsh lighting and was full of kids on a Saturday night. No atmosphere whatsoever and really nothing remarkable at all.

The Three Horseshoes, Warham

Lovely pub inside and Wherry straight from the cask. However the food was awful. My wife had a jacket potato which they just emptied a can of tuna on. My sausage roll was cheap supermarket type hotdog roll with 3 burnt crunchy sausages in. Horrible. Won't eat here again. Landlady (if that's who she was) behind the bar not the friendliest either.

The Harp, Covent Garden

My pint was foul. Won't be visiting again.

The Wheatsheaf, Bough Beech

This is a great pub. Really atmospheric inside, with very high beamed ceilings, mounted animal heads, old paintings, candlelit tables and large inglenooks. If you get one of the tables for 2 by the fire you can even roast chestnuts in winter. It doesn't get any better than this. The food is always good, service friendly and the beer in top condition. They serve food all day which is a big plus too. One of the best that I have visited.

The Bo-Peep, Chelsfield

A nice 15th Century pub with a huge inglenook fireplace. The interior appears to have been touched up recently and the food is good. The Harveys is always in top condition which is a big plus. Food is a bit overpriced, but definately worth a visit.

The Spotted Dog, Penshurst

This is one of the most beautiful looking pubs, inside and out. Beer is always good. Food is a little overpriced but tastes good. Sunday roast portions a bit stingy. Like a lot of the best pubs it isn't easy to find, but is one of the very best in Kent.

The White Bear, Fickleshole

This has to be the hardest to find pub in the country. It is down an unmarked country lane. It is definatley worth the search though. So cosy inside with candelight, large inglenook fireplaces, beams and low ceilings. Staff were friendly. The food was good too. Harveys in good condition, if a little too chilled. Although I'm not a fan of those long thin lager pint glasses. Overall very good.
