Strange place. Reminded me of the pub in the film 'An American Werewolf in London'. Still, not bad for a 'one horse town'.

If I lived locally to this pub, I'd be very pleased! Place was packed when I visited, three ales on and the two I tried (Elgood Golden Newt and Uley Laurie Lee) were excellent. Delicious food at a reasonable price, given the quality. Only one room of the three is set out just for eating so you can go just for a pint

Note under new management since Oct 2007. Really nice pub this in great countryside setting. Cosy Cotswold stone interior and open fires, lit by candles. Beer good, food good and service very friendly. Reasonable prices too which is rare these days, so respect.....defo worth a visit.

bought item from Chalford and seller recommended going to Crown for sunday lunch.
Totally endorse comments from "Jonno".
service from Darren? and rest of the staff, the lunch with a piece of excellent beef. Not wafer thin slices. Excellent quality food, well cooked and presented.Enjoyed the real ales.
Good restaurant pub and very busy when we visited, still served quickly.
Having reviewed many pubs and visited many more I rate my lunch in my top four ever.
Very highly recommended, pity sixty miles from home!!

Don't know what this pub was like before Vernon's took it over but it's lost a lot of the ambience of a country pub. Nice enough but lacks charm and atmosphere. A country pub for town dwellers. Can understand why the locals give it a miss.
