The Cross Foxes, Erbistock

Met the rest of the family here for a Saturday lunch and was immediately impressed wioth the surroundings and the view of the river. We were't disappointed inside either, lovely old (but with a modern twist) pub, roomy and was given a large table with a garden/river view. Food ordered at the bar. Service was friendly and polite and made us non locals feel welcome.
Food (main course & pudding) was excellent, Fish cakes were humungous but very tasty, Cheese Bacon Burger was very tasty, Rump Steak cooked just right (med rare) and had a lovely buttery taste - the chips with all were clearly home made and delicious. Chosen puddings were Eaton Mess which was a winner but by far the most popular choice and the winner was the waffles with hot chocolate sauce & vanilla ice-cream.
Highly recommend this pub but beware that the food is priced for the quantity and quality you receive.

The Spring Tavern, Ewell

Visited this for the first time on a sunny Friday evening and found the whole experience pleasant. There was plenty of people inside and out drink, plus the seating area for the food was well occupied too. The pub has an air of middle glass gastro pub about it, we found the bar service polite and attentive. Although we never tried the food, of what we saw served, looked wholesome and well presented. Cosmopolitan cocktails were well made and strong - so the misses says anyway.
Overall we were well impressed with, what is now our 'local' and will certainly going back for more and to try the food.

The Badachro Inn, Badachro

An oasis worth seeking out in a gorgeously beautiful part of the country. inside the pub is comfy and old, adjoined to it is a roofed, glazed seating area should you need to shelter from the weather, but outside is a decking area. Both the decking area and the glazed area afford great views across the Loch.
As stated by other visitors the beer/drink choice is ample and the food menu makes you salivate before you order.
We only visited for a light lunch, when breaded Camambert was one choice and a wild Salmon salad the other. Both were delighful, full of flavour and served with a perfectly dressed salad and fresh bread rolls and some unsalted butter. All of it was scrummy.
if your in the area of Gairloch, Poolewe, Badachro or just the North West Highlands - this has to be on your route.

The Churchill Arms, Kensington

This is a fantastic, proper old style London pub that is busy/mobbed anytime of the day. I have now been here twice, eating the Thai food on both occasions.

The food, beer & service are faultless, those qualities combined with the decor, open fire and wide range of customers certainly make this a pub a must, especially those who appreciate Fullers beers.

The Marlborough, Richmond

Well my (mpw246pl) review certainly got the reaction it deserved judging by the recent comments.
This forum is for honest, impartial reviews whether they be critical or not, it is not for the posting of comments sniping at each other.

ginsling - for information I am a man, I am not overbearing or rude by any stretch of the imagination. I am a married family man with 3 children and just expect a reasonable level of service when we go out. I think you should use the dictionary to understand what a 'review' is meant to be, as your comments on 1st Feb are nothing more than a banal attack on me.

lordy23 - I did make a mistake, and i have emailed the webiste 3 times asking them for my duplicate review, to be removed from The White Horse, this has not be done to date.

Orange Tree, Richmond

This is a pub that has a great atmosphere, and provides a location where drinking is easy. Plenty of seating be it at table with high stools, comfy sofas, table/chairs or alcoves. It also provides a patio area out the front with patio heathers, this are is not just frequented by the smokers, but by those wanting a session alfresco.
Wide range of clientele and age groups.
If i had to find fault, the inside of the pub, towards the rear gets very hot/stuffy when busy - but this is nit picking.
great place

The White Horse, Richmond

Finished another glorious evening in Richmond, with another visit to my favourite pub in the area.
It has just under gone a refurbishment, interior and mainly exterior, which has resulted in this gastro pub being very brighter & sharper than before.
Some of the comfy sofa's have gone and in its place have come some padded high-back benches, which create more eating space.
This pub still creates a warm, welcoming feeling and excels with food and provides a relaxing atmosphere for boozing.

The Thames Court, Shepperton

What a fantastic, quintessentially English, riverside pub in a delighful surrounding. We had a meal for seven, sitting outside on the benches over looking the river. The service was superb and the food was served amazingly quickly.
Can highly recommend the Beef & Guinness Pie, the Scampi & Chips but best of all was the homemade Fish Cakes - plump & very tasty.

We did not suffer the over crowding (probably as a result of the inclement weather!) but the bar man did say, that on busy days, customers queue out of the door even when there is a 90 minute cooking time.

The White Swan, Richmond

First time myself & my girlfriend have been to this pub and having heard such good things about it - we were not disappointed.
We walked in to be greated to a very friendly welcome and a nice gathering of customers, some in the pub, some in theconservatory and some outside in the garden.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and hope to return soon where we intend to eat next time.

Harts Boatyard, Surbiton

My family (parents & three children) went here for a Saturday lunch, having fully read and appreciated the previous reviews regarding poor service. This concerned us greatly, especially as having three children under 7 to feed & entertain. Thankfully i could not fault the food, SERVICE, or ambiance. We had booked and had been allocated a table on the first floor, with a river view. Service was attentive & polite. We had no call to query or chase them, save for a missing portion of Frites! We found the food portions were of a good size. Highly recommend one of the starters which included a platter of a whole warmed Camembert, which had the most fantastic taste/smell of garlic accompanied by fresh bread to dip in. Main courses of Haddock (medium sized & moist), Roast Half of Chicken (Crispy skin & also moist), Venison Hot Pot (Hot, crispy potatoe on top & soft meat). The Children shared Pizza with Frites - these were equally as good, but this is a downfall - there is no Childrens menu or childrens portions. This needs to be addressed. By the time the meal was finished at 1.45pm, the restaurant was full and it appeared the staff were still coping. Overall a great meal in a beautiful pub. Can't wait to experience some hot summer evenings there.

The Blue Bell Inn, Dockenfield

My partner & I were staying in the area (Tilford Wood Log Cabins) to celebrate a birthday. We did some research for good places to eat and The Blue Bell certainly seemed to be highly recommended compared to some of the others in the area. We were pleased to have done our research. what an excellent venue, very friendly staff, very clean and well kept and as for the food.. wow.. superb! Great value, good portions and truly delicious (especially the homemade syrup sponge!). A great evening & well worth the journey for a country gastro pub.
