| There are some great pubs around here set on the River Dee.. Undoubtedly this is one of them. The views are stunning, and with Breakspear Oxford Gold flowing, a pleasant place to 'sink a few''. My review is posted Tuesday 11th August 2020, when everyone has forgotten common sense and thinks the world is ending... I don't post massively negative comments post Covid 19, but did think the way drinkers are treated at the cross Foxes was overly negative... (get the wrong way system wrong and you will be tarred and feathered)... I'm not sure if it's logged on Beer in the evening, but The boat at Erbastock is even more stunning and has the opportunity for wild swimming in the Dee.. | Met the rest of the family here for a Saturday lunch and was immediately impressed wioth the surroundings and the view of the river. We were't disappointed inside either, lovely old (but with a modern twist) pub, roomy and was given a large table with a garden/river view. Food ordered at the bar. Service was friendly and polite and made us non locals feel welcome. Food (main course & pudding) was excellent, Fish cakes were humungous but very tasty, Cheese Bacon Burger was very tasty, Rump Steak cooked just right (med rare) and had a lovely buttery taste - the chips with all were clearly home made and delicious. Chosen puddings were Eaton Mess which was a winner but by far the most popular choice and the winner was the waffles with hot chocolate sauce & vanilla ice-cream.
