The General At Sea, Chatham

This pub has recently undergone a refit and looks very nice now inside and outside.

Beer still pricey though and nothing special but Shepherd Neame obviously have plans for it and need to pay for the refurbishments!

Good place to go for a no hasle evening out in Chatham.

Marquis of Lorne, Gillingham

Following on from the last post of which I totally agree this is a genuine locals pub in Gillingham near the high street and bus stop close by and easy access to train station so no excuse not to come over and give the pub a go!!
Good beer selection including 4 ales and all at very reasonable prices or even better for the current market.
TV up on the wall for sporting events, pool table and friendly atmosphere with a good natured landlord who knows whats what in the pub trade and is always welcoming.
A real pub in an age when real pubs are dying so come and give it your support and dont let the great English Pub Die!!

The Alexandra Hotel, Chatham

This is an ok pub near chatham railway station that serves a decent pint but is very expensive.
also beware as I fancied a bottle of magners in there and was charged 3.75
The barman was pretty apathetic and was reading a book when I arrived not looking interested at all.
ok to take your girlfriend for a chat or go on a date but not a pub I would spend a night in with my mates.

The Tap 'n' Tin, Chatham

This place is an enigma i visited 2 recent saturday nights 1 was quite busy the 2nd was dead as a dodo!!
4 entry i just cant believe to enter a place like taht where nothing happens!!
The beer is flat and insipid i always have bottled stuff in there much safer its mainly student types taht are still atrracted like flies to the place but i dont know why there isnt anything for them either i cant see it surviving much longer only plus point late beer when dumps lie the alex up the road shut at 11 when they have just charged you extortionate prices for below average beer.

The North Foreland, Rochester

This pub is definately an improvement on what came before you can get 3 bittersw including 2 ales at 2.50 very reasonable prices for rochester pubs I can tell you apart from souless wetherspoons!!
Landlord is friendly and welcoming and there is some basic pub grub on offer no thrills pub but he has some plans for it.
It suffers as its not a pub that stands out in the high street as its laid back a bit and gets passed by.
Its worth a look and as I say cheaper than most around.

The Royal Oak, Charlton

Visited this pub after the match sat and charlton and gillingham supporters mixed well it was good atmosphere plenty of singing and good natured banter pub is fine prtty basic down to earth footie frendly boozer with nice looking bar girls too.
beer ok nothing special but drinkable not bad pub at all.

22 Mar 2010 12:03

The Rose of Denmark, Charlton

Visited this pub sat for the footie and as a gillingham supporter i was very impressed with this pub good pint of london pride and quick service considering how busy it got by 1pm.
good mix of home and away fans and everyone was friendly and had a laugh well recommended before the game but they domt allow away fans in after match which is shame.

22 Mar 2010 12:01

The Two Brewers, Rochester

This is a pretty decent high street pub bit on the small side but its bigger than it used to be!!
Beer not bad at all and standard rochester high street prices they do come worse as well.
Landlord is a bit dull and has had a charisma bypass but the landlady seems ok.
They have the main sport eents on normal tv and the clientele is pretty decent no chavs or local numptys overall so thas a godsend.
So give it a try its a pretty come and go passing trade boozer can get very quiet in day though but thats not uncommon nowadays.

14 Mar 2010 12:29

The Fleur De Lis, Gillingham

I have used this pub for over 10 years as a drinking place before matches at Gillingham and always found it fine the beer is well kept ok no ales but you dont get too much camra style boozers in upper gillingham the prices are decent the landlord friendly and service good the regulars look rough and ready butas I have got to know fair few they are fine and can have a laugh its good natured banter at the bar and a lot more down to earth than the usual run of the mill souless bars that you get say in rochester which is sadly now stuck up its own anus and you pay more for crap beer too!!
so dont knock it until given it a proper chance at least its a real working manspub.

The George, Beckenham

Visited this pub for the second time last sat whilst visiting friend up in Beckenham and was impressed to be honest it was busy but not packed sport on the tv good natured atmospher mainly 30's upwards clientele which suited me and decent beer at reasonable prices the dcoe has improved and the service is good dont get kept waiting long considering it seems a steadily busy pub in the high street has an old fashioned feel to it which being a bit of a traditionalist I welcome.
Well recommeneded if in the area looks the best of the pubs in the area for sure.

Sir Robert Peel, Chatham

This pub closed has ben for a while its dilapidated.

16 Sep 2009 12:06

Kings Head, Deal

Nice old style english seaside public house good pint and nice meal prices reasonable in the current market.can get a bit draughty as on the seafront so watch where you sit unless you not bothered.a bit on the dark side in there but adds a bit to the quaint atmosphere a good place to have a pleasant drink in nice surroundings and good grub too plenty of choices and the quality is good too and its pretty clean and friendly.recommended!

16 Sep 2009 12:00

Strand, Deal

Please note this pub is now closed and looks like its ging to be an amusement arcade just what the town needs as there is 1 just round the corner on the seafront!

16 Sep 2009 11:56

The Duke William, Ickham

nice village pub with good choice of ales and good quality my only gripe thought very pricey so that brought my rating down a notch.apart from that well worth a look.

9 Sep 2009 12:39

The Haywain, Bramling

great village pub with good range of beers and excellent outdoor area nice quaint feel and prices reasonable.

9 Sep 2009 12:37

Royal Oak, Nonington

Friendly village pub visited here on a quiet tuesday lunchtime butenjoyed the drink not great range of beers on view but prices for drink and food look very reasonable.

9 Sep 2009 12:35

The White Lion, Chatham

Well this pub is basically the sort that I wouldnt take my worst enemy into its the pits I popped in in sat eve at 10pm really just for curiousity value as it had fairly recently been given a lick of paint but you wouldnt have noticed to be honest.
they had some cheesy disco or should i say crap music coming out of some speakers and there were about 10 locals in there a few old blokes at bar trying to mutter along to songs like come on eileen!!dreadful stuff.
I couldnt wait to finish my weak pint of john smiths smoothflow had to drink this as there was no choice of ales it was 2.50 so not as expensive as so rip off rochester but its a pub located in chathams arse end which is not a good advert as chatham is just old tat at best.
Dreary depressing and thats its good points the landlady wasnt very welcoming I just find it hard to believe these places exist and survive now.

30 Aug 2009 00:07

The Grey Derby, Kennington

visited pub today prety quiet decent boozer plenty of screens fot the sporting events and a decent pint too which helps and some real ales marstons pedigree and spitfire.
also had a nice sunday roast 6.95 very reasonable considering pub round corner wanted 12.50

5 Jul 2009 23:09

The General At Sea, Chatham

I use this pub on a friday night its good as can meet and have a chat in the saloon bar if thats the right term to use nowadays the other bar or public bar as it would be assumed to be is normally the youngsters hang out sky tv pool table and odd karaoke night but its a decent boozer people are welcoming and they dont rush you out of the door.good pint of shep neame beer bit pricey but thats the trend now.

14 Jun 2009 13:46

The Magpie Tavern, Chatham

This pub has recently re-opened has had a bit of an uplift neede it beer ok nothing special never was to be honest.

14 Jun 2009 13:43

The George, Beckenham

Visited this pub on sat previous with a friend and stayed there for few hours so that was a good sign as some pubs visited i couldnt wait to get out of.
had a nice few pints of bombardier in this pub reasonable prices got served fairly quick considering it was quite busy.
the pub itself is quite well decked out and the atmosphere seems relaxed a little bit cramped between some of the tables which was a bit annoying.
overall though a decent pub decent pint i would come back again for sure.

8 Jun 2009 15:51

The Barge, Gillingham

Good back street pub in a town not really noted for quality of alehouses but you need to either know where it is or be recommended it to find it as its tucked away in a little corner of the town.
Decent beers though bit pricey but most places are and at least here you get a decent pint.
Bit on the dark side but adds to the atmosphere and you wouldnt believe you were in a built up area music on mondays and wednesdays normally which is free and a quiz on sunday nights so a few things going on.a trouble free place as well so well recommended.

26 May 2009 10:47

The Torch, Wembley Park

fair to middling pub bearing in mind close location to wembley stadium do a good job and the beer isnt as bad as you might think it could be.expect plastic pots to drink out of though goes with the territory esp when stuff going on nearby.service was pretty good as well.
been in a lot worse for sure.

25 May 2009 14:42

The Bree Louise, Euston

Used this pub with half a dozen mates on the way to wembley satiurday and was very impressed the beers were good, plenty of real ales to choose from and some strong ones for sure!food wa adequate bit pricy but thats central london but cant fault the pub wont find many like this ain the general area.and some nice looking female bar staff which helps.

25 May 2009 14:38

Golden Lion, Rochester

Visited this wetherspoon recently a few times and since they closed a while ago because of the state of the kitchens it seems to me that the food if anything tastes worse than before.
Ok its adequate food not great but the prices are good depends what you want and the beer is pretty good if its actually available, the last two times i ventured into there all the ales were off as they couldnt seem to get them through to the pumps the bar staff are straggly looking students who obviously through no fault of their own dont really know what they are doing.
The service at the bar is ok if they dont have to serve more than about 2 at at a time after that it gets hopeless and if you go in at weekend expect a helluva long wait for a drink etc.
Being relatively cheap you get some of the local old sots and dregs go in there so adds to an atmosphere of slight menace the beer garden is ok tho when warm enough to venture out but the sating is weird and doesnt allow much standing space if you cant get a seat to be honest it has gone downhill overall the cutlery is often dirty and they dont clean and clear away the tables enough.
Dont think will be using it s often i think the novelty of this chain of pub/bar whatever they call themselves is wearing thin.

20 May 2009 13:57

The Huntsman, Rochester

Typical main road pub with largish forecourt nothing special but adequate beerwise prob not for camra fans but for people like me who dont mind smoothflows etc this is acceptable pub recently changed hands and ose the occasional music quiz on a sunday night and the odd band play here mates band tomorrow night 16th may by the way ha ha.Beergut 100.

15 May 2009 11:19

Wagon At Hale, Chatham

Quite a nice pub tucked away just far enough from the main drag to have a pleasant view as well and they do very good meal deals during the week a great meal from 1.99 and pint of speckled hen 1.50 well worth cheking out if in the vicinity.they have live bands on friday nights and other events on other nights.

14 Apr 2009 15:48

The Luton Tavern, Chatham

This pub has been closed for a number of years now im glad to say what a dump!

14 Apr 2009 15:42

The Ordinary Fellow, Chatham

This pub is now closed has been for a while now was an ok local but suffered due to its near location to the once notorious white road estate.

14 Apr 2009 15:40

The Crown, Rochester

Nt a bad end of high street pub better than a lot down there.good points- clean enough well decorated and friendly enough.bad points-beer and food pricey for what it is.sport screens can be a distaction but its a good place to watch a sporting event can get a bit rowdy tho so beware if you attend.ok pub though.

7 Apr 2009 13:22

The Stage Door, Victoria

good backstreet pub near to mainline station and well worth a visit if passing through or coming to or from theatre opposite.the beer is surprisingly good for the area as a lot of central london pubs charge the earth for dross.this pub for london prices is very reasonable and you will get a decent pint which you can drink!the place is a bit small and awkwardly set out but it never seems too crowded and ive always got servred quick enough.beware of the stirs down to the toilets tho dangerous especially if you have had a few lol.

7 Apr 2009 13:15

The Nags Head, Rochester

A good friendly high street pub which luckily is on the opposite end of chave central high street zone so tend to avoid the lager louts i have been using this pub a good number of years without much complaint as i have made lots of good friends in here.a wide diverse clientele including students use the pub and they have bands on fridays and some sat nights and a quiz on sunday nights.not much seating space though and the prices are really too high especially when the beer is of not the best quality but its not rubbish and its always worth a look has something for most tastes and is relatively trouble free.

7 Apr 2009 13:10

The Man of Kent Ale House, Rochester

This is a pub that suffers from the location it is in as its in a run down part of rochester saying that i suppose it keeps the high st chavs away which cant be a bad thing.yes a good range of beers emphasis a lot on overated foreign 1s though which they charge an extortianate price for.the place is tacky and small and too much space is given to the bar.its ok for people who find it fashionable to stand about talking about camra festivals all night but i find the place a bit souless and the english beers dont taste that special really and they dont serve any guinness.the fruit beers are just gimmicky and i cant see the point to be honest but its much better than the dives around it.

7 Apr 2009 12:53

The Griffin, Brentford

I have used this pub as an away supporter and find it friendly enough on match days.does get very crowded though and awkward to get served.typical high ceiling london style pub small toilets though and the prices bit steep i suppose they can get away with it being so close to griffin park i wonder how the trade is on non match days its an ok pub though but may try somewhere else next time we play there.found the local supporters friendly though which bumps my rating up a notch.
