The Ball and Wicket, Heath End
the ale in The B&W is perfect. I prefer it to national ales. Well done Gary!

Just been to this pub with my family - the place was packed! Superb food (my wife had the Hake - I had Paprika Chicken), excellent ales (I opted for Betty Stoggs) and the staff were attentive and very friendly. All in all I would highly recommend The Engine Inn to anyone staying in or near Penzance.

Visited this pub last night for a pint. The pub itself is very appealling with a good selection of beers. Prices pretty average to be fair. I particularly liked Old Dick (not something you want to say very often). Will definitely be revisiting here again soon.

I stopped in here with my family for a pint on our way home on Sunday from Alice Holt forest - well kept beers, landlady very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The menu looked good too.

B&W was packed last night. Mike Hawthorn was absolutely spot on last night - so much so that I had 5 pints of the stuff.. Slightly sore head today ;-)

Sorry Scorpiandragon, wrong again. I am an RF engineer - not a pub landlord. Gary wouldn't know his VSWR from his dB Return Loss.
Why do you persist in running the B&W down? It is a fine pub with good ale and good food. Several of my work colleagues have been there (including from Ulm, Germany) and all commented on how nice a pub it is. My parents have been there for Sunday lunch in the restaurant and they thoroughly enjoyed it. I also ate there with family and friends on Carnival day and although the place was absolutely rammed, we had a superb meal - the home-made burgers are to die for. We did have to wait 45 minutes though, which was only to be expected.

I was at the Ball & Wicket again last night with some friends - the Mike Hawthorn brew was absolutely spot on and it was being consumed by many other people besides the four of us. It is the main reason I go there rather than anywhere else. Sure, I could go to other pubs to have mainstream ales (London Pride being one of my favourites), but it's the alluring full-flavour in this brew that just hits the spot.

I had a pint of Innkeepers in here on Monday last week whilst on holiday in Llandudno. I thought it was a decent enough pub. The ale was very good & bar staff friendly too. Would definitely recommend a visit.

I was here twice last week whilst on holiday in Llandudno. The atmosphere was buzzing. Very friendly staff too. The Conwy ale was good. Definitely worth a visit!

The Tweseldown, Church Crookham
Came her for Fathers' Day this year for lunch with my family and some friends too - was very impressed with the food and also London Pride was on form. The restaurant was packed but we'd already decided to sit outside as the weather was fine.

One of my favourite Sussex pubs - recently ate there with a friend early evening Tuesday. The Haddock in ale batter & chips went down a treat. Staff were friendly, as was the landlord.
The Harveys in this pub is always well kept too, so I felt it only fair to indulge in a couple of pints...

just had a superb Chicken Madras accompanied by a perfect pint of Harveys.
Staff very welcoming too. Highly recommended!

Good pub that I ended up at the halfway point of a bike ride from Farnham back in May (one of the hot days!). Food was good, as was the Doombar ale. Will definitely return when in Shalford again.

Absolutly a true English country pub, well run & serving well-kept Harveys.
Also has excellent food. Definitely worth a visit when in the area.

The Crown and Cushion, Blackwater
Cracking pub which I have been to on many a lunchtime (best pub close to the office). The home-made burgers are superb and ales are excellent.
Also has a an outdoor seating area for the summer months which looks across a cricket green.

My no.1 favourite ale is Harveys Best & this is absolutely my favourite Sussex pub. Never once in the 19 years I've visited it have I had a bad experience. The Harveys & food are both excellent, along with service & atmosphere. During the summer months, the garden is very appealing too.

Mike Hawthorn was spot on again last night, as was the selection of food we had.
Full marks!

I don't understand the derogatory comments on here. Bloody-mindedness getting in the way it seems. The beer is excellent (Mike Hawthorn always hits the spot). On the occasions I've eaten here, the food has been spot on too. The atmosphere's just fine too. In my opinion, it is the best pub in the local area.

I've been in the Ball & Wicket several times over the past few weeks (including last night) & think the ales are excellent. You have to respect the Mike Hawthorn brew though - it's strong stuff!!

This is probably my closest pub & I have to say, one of the friendliest in Farnham. They did have a problem with the ale until about mid-November, but rectified this & ever since, the ales have been superb.

The William Cobbett, Farnham
Friendly, vibrant pub with a decent selection of ales (much to my delight). I don't go there often enough (once or twice a month), but I can highly recommend the place. Wide range of ages apparent and a good outdoor area for the sunnier months. Has been brilliant this year.
