BRB, Sutton

Been done up recently, it's all right in there. Wouldn't bother at night just because the music isn't to my taste. They have games consoles in there and let kids in during the day which I don't think any otherhigh street pub does. The staff seem a good bunch as well.

Reds Bar, Sutton

It's called Reds now. Not such a bad place to go to avoid the clutter of the high street. Can be dead at times and then packed at others.

Smollensky's Metro, Sutton

Been closed for staff training for weeks. don't think it will reopen as the croydon one has been closed for staff training since new year. Besides you couldn't go in for just a drink anymore,It had died off any way. Once the guys behind the bar left all the dregs started coming in as the woman couldn't turf them out. Pity as you did get a better standard of lady in there and generaly no idiots. Nearest comparason in sutton is Reds near the bingo hall.

Ye Olde Talbot, Worcester

I stayed here a few times and found the staff friendly, the bar maids were very easy on the eye and the clintele good. It's on the edge of town so it appeared they didn't get the dodgy crownd (If worcester has one.) If you stayed in the hotel then the staff would serve you after hours, something we used to take advantage of far too often. Once spent an evening teaching the staff how to make white russians. Not a bad place at all.

The Sutton Arms, Sutton

Not so sure about tearing the roof off but the band they had in there the other week made me want to tear my ears off and they're not even the worst they've had. What's happened to the pub bands, there used to be some good ones out there but they're missing in action these days.

O'Neills, Sutton

Went in on Saturday night and there was live music. Trouble is it was one guy with a guitar and a drum machine and it was terrible. Definitely need to do better in the live music stakes. Thing is with only the Sutton arms to compete with where live music is concerned do they really need to as the stuff down there is bad nine times out of ten.

The Brewery Inn, Ashtead

Went there on Saturday night. Nice pub and a great selection of drinks and pleasant friendly bar staff. Nice beer garden which i was suprised was not busier. The only down point was the two guys dripping in Elizabeth Duke gold chains and playing music out of thier mobile phone something that drives me up the wall.

The Moon on the Hill, Sutton

I want the guiness book of records to get down here and confirm my suspicions that one of the regulars holds the record for making a pint last the longest. Admitedly it doesn't make much difference how long you leave it as the lager is utter s**t. If you gave me a choice between letting a jehovah's witness into my home and having a pint in here I'd choose the Jehovah's witness. Actually that's a lie I'd take the Jehovah's witness down here in the hope that the cleaning fluid lager killed them and the place got shut down. How's that for two for the price of one.

The live music seems to have stopped lately. Like the roof terrace area. Not huge but nice set out.

Air Balloon, Horley

I could be wrong but didn't this used to be the Game bird, possibly one of the greatest pubs ever.we used to travel miles to get here especialy on a Sunday. I still think it's a pity it changed although i doubt I'd go there now as I'm in the mid 30s and remember being there one Sunday when the DJ asked A guy how old he was and he replied 31 and I thought "you sad git go home and watch TV"

The Abbot, Redhill

Let me help you out with the thing that's missing. It's the bar staff most of the time they're chatting to the regulars at the end of the bar.

The Railway Hotel, Cheam

Me again, I'm assuming this pub doesn't get allot of posts as the regulars are still trying to work out how those new fangled contraptions called TVs work. I know I take the piss about this place but even I thought painting the place so it looked like an undertakers was a touch insensitive to the regulars. I mean come on how do you think Bert and Ernie feel when they walk through the door, the next think you know the land lord/lady will start wearing a long black hooded cloak and be holding a scythe. I'm sure there's no truth to the rumour that the real undertakers round the corner opparates a cab service just for this pub, just in case. Apparently they don't ring the bell for last orders in case it startles the locals they just give them a gentle tap on the shoulder and hope they get some sort of response. It's simply one of the oddest pubs I know off, but what the hell if the locals are happy then good luck to them, theyre gonna need it.

Pinching people is putting it lightly; Mr Spock has a less lethal grip than the land lady. Never stand at the bar with your back to it as she creeps up behind you and before you now it your shoulders in a grip a great white shark would be proud of. I kid you not I once had to go through three months of physio therapy just because I cheered a goal against Newcastle. Its a good pub actually and well run. A great place to watch sport although it does get very busy when Chelsea play. Turn up early if England are playing as they have the good sense to shut the doors before it gets too over crowded so you get a good atmosphere without having to hold your drink with your teeth due to overcrowding.

The Railway Hotel, Cheam

For some reason that i can not remember or work out i went in here on New years eve 1999 (yep the millenium.) It felt like it was 1899 to be honest, stayed for one and went else where and have never been back. Walked past numerous times and it hasn't changed one bit. Each to thier own i suppose but you expect to see Rick Mayle sitting in the corner and the land lord/lady to tell you not to go to Non such park after dark. Truely a place caught in a time warp.

The Dog and Fox, Wimbledon Village

Only one thing can be said after the previous comment MILF haven. In all seriousness I used to go here occasionaly a few years back mainly in the summer and wasn't that impressed in fact I always thought it needed a refurb. If it's been cleaned up then i might try it this summer before going to the Hand in Hand and the crooked billet as i haven't been there for years either

The Cock and Bull, Sutton

Nothing much wrong with this place really it just seems to be suffering from too much competition. It doesn't even seem to get that busy on Big football match days. It's hard to put your finger on why it seems to have died off. Maybe most people have the same attitude as me, you tend to just walk past it on the way to somehwere else without really giving any thought to going in. Saying that i did venture in a few weeks back and didn't mind it, the staff were welcoming and the beer was OK. We only stayed for one though as there didn't seem to be a reason to stay. I actually think that one day the number of pubs in Sutton will begin to lessen and I'd probably put this at the top of the list to close first, pity as there are worse pubs in Sutton, trouble is there's also better ones

The Tickled Ivory Piano Lounge, Reigate

Were to start. Well the prices seem a good point. 3.70 for a pint of san miguel, I'd half expect to pay that in London but in a bar in a market town in Surrey, i don't think so. Fortunatly we got there early enough that we didn't have to pay on the door. To be honest there's just not much to recomend about the place. It seems to be one of those places that turns the lights down to hide the shabbyness, it looks like it's been given a cheap paint job. I assume it markets itself as a live music venue due to the name and the piano at the back. Trouble is the band on Friday were bloody awfull, I know they're just a pub band but come on I've seen better on the x factor. Each to their own i suppose but I don't think I'll ever be setting foot in here again.

The Revolution Bar, Sutton

Never seen any trouble in or around here although I'm never there when it closes as I've retired home for my whore licks (oops sorry meant horelicks)or gone to one of the pubs with live music as that's more my thing. I Like this place when it's busy but not packed as it seems to have a nice atmosphere about it. Got to say the lovely ladies behind the bar add to the appeal. My one criticism would be that they need to get some main stream beers/lagers in as the choice is a bit limited and pricy without a loyalty card and the ones they have are on the strong side so after a while in here you start to feel a bit worse for wear as you tend to forget you're not drinking weaker main stream lagers/beers. Of course the best thing about this place is the fact that it's not the Litten tree any more and all that went with that place. This place gets an eight just for that.

The Tickled Ivory Piano Lounge, Reigate

Couldn't agree more about the patrons of this place. I've only been there once but that was enough. I got talking to two ladies? in another pub the other week, as soon as they said they were from Kingswood I spotted the more money than sense condescending attitude. Then they mentioned the tickled ivory in Reigate and how good it was. God did they fit the
"Daddy pays for everything" stereotype. I was most happy when they left and I could talk to genuine people. Genuine, not a word I'd associate with the tickled ivory.

The Revolution Bar, Sutton

Opened at the weekend, the inside is a testament to what the Litten tree could have been. The inside is done out in a restaurant and bar combined with the two fairly well separated. It looks like its had a fair amount of money thrown at it. The major point with this place is that it seems to be aiming for clientele a rung above the usual. This is emphasised by the fact that only premium lagers are sold on tap or in bottles. Theres no Fosters, Kronenbourg. You can get Stella if you class that as main stream I suppose. It is a bit pricey but you can pay 3 for a loyalty card that gets you discounts on certain drinks. Theres a pool table but I suspect there might not be for much longer as I was told theyd already had some minor problems at the weekend and to be honest it seemed out of place in this sort of pub/bar. They have bouncers at the week end as is to be expected and they adhere to a pretty strict dress code, no trainers or sports gear after a certain time which is fare enough really. The only thing I think they got wrong was the fact that they had bouncers working Sunday night and were turning away people with trainers, seems a bit strange for a Sunday. Overall a good place but havent been there when its busy so will reserve judgement till then.

Smollensky's Metro, Sutton

This is a pub/restaurant type place fitting in with the rest of the chain. The bar area at the front is a bit small but it's got a good atmosphere with pretty good music playing at a volume that you can talk and hear each other. It doesn't seem to attract the less desirable Sutton element either. The beers are limited to Bud, Carling or Guinness and are a bit pricey at 3 a pint but I guess its worth paying a bit extra to drink in a decent bar.
