This is a small quaint pub, with 3/4 local ales and several lagers on offer. The staff are pleasant and helpful, and when its wet and cold, the open fire was a welcome relief. Not overly expensive for an ale and a glass of wine. There appeared to be more 'locals' in this pub than the other 2 for a lunchtime. All in all, this is a nice pub.

This is a nice pub, the way they should be..diligent staff, good, varied range beers on offer, and the beer well maintained. OTTER ALE very nice on this occasion. There are numerous nautical references within the pub as expected. The loos are outside, literally, which is a novelty these days. In my opinion, this is the best pub in the village.
Beware of the ginger cat, it will make itself very comfortable on you if allowed to.

There are three pubs in Kingwear and this pub is well maintained and very spacious. There is a but though, the beer, OTTER ALE, in this pub in noticeably different in the way it is maintained, too cold and almost flavourless compared to the other pubs in the village. There were 3 beers to choose, all from local brewers. The price of the beer was also more expensive and if you want a bar snack...I hope you like ready salted crisps, as that is the only snack that is on offer. The staff are a little aloof, but will service you if they are not watching Dickin's Real deal. Out of all the pubs available, this should be the last one you visit. Its still worth a go. Cheers.

The Cherub Inn, Dartmouth
I visited this pub twice, once in Sept 2010 and now in Jan 2011, and this pub has maintained it high standards. There were 4 ales on offer, DOOMBAR, OTTER ALE, OTTER BEST and PROPER JOB. I'm not one for the weaker ales, so tried, PROPER JOB, 4.5%, which is a lovely ale. The staff and manager are very nice, always open for a chat, 'locals' also happy to chat to the 'outsiders'. The food is of a high standard and reasonably priced. The pub is old and it shows, but that is the charm of this pub. Don't have too much too drink if you want to use the toilets, the stairs to the toilets can be difficult. NICE PUB.
