Nice pub with attentive staff and a good selection of Young's ales.
Food was a little disappointing though. The steak in my open steak sandwich was perfectly cooked however the chips were very oily and only moderately warm. Wouldn't usually have dessert at lunch time but the selection of sorbets sounded too good to miss - sadly when it turned up I was disappointed as I was given bowl of slush dusted with icing sugar. The sorbets had obviously been left out and refrozen as they were very icy in the middle, and maybe the bowl was left under some heat as it turned up half-melted. Not what you would expect for fivepence shy of a fiver.

After reading older reviews of this pub I can't believe it was the same place I visited this afternoon!
Had wonderful food (2 sandwiches, priced around 4 each with chips for 2-ish) and a few pints of guinness (2.90 each). The atmosphere was welcoming, the staff friendly and the sofa we sat on was wonderfully soft - we didn't want to leave! The toilets were also better than many other London pubs that I've visited.
Don't live in Hammersmith but if I was ever going past I would go back without a moment's thought - much more inviting than the Wetherspoons across the road.
Giving this 9/10 to hopefully increase the average rating somewhat to reflect that this pub is much better than its previous incarnation!

Nice place to sit outside and watch the world go by (if you can get a table) but it's a bit pricey. Not been in at the weekend but service was okay on a quiet weekday evening.
Has a pretty extensive menu as well.

This is by far the best pub in Wimbledon. The cocktails here aren't the best you will ever drink, but 2-for-1 between the hours of 6-8pm sun-thurs and 5-7pm fri and sat (i think) more than make up for it.
This place does indeed heave on the weekends (or on any Aussie/Kiwi national holidays) but it's worth going to if you can get through the doors.
Bar staff are also friendly and service is very very quick!

The Bread and Cheese, Benfleet
Been past the Bread and Cheese many times as have lived in the area nearly all my life. Popped in for the first time today for lunch.
The bar and waiting staff were friendly, the booze good (my pint of guinness was great) however the food was not good value and not particularly tasty. I live in London so I'm used to paying a lot of money to dine out: the Bread and Cheese just need to up the quality and choice if they want to charge 19 for three courses.
Would go back if I was ever stuck on the hill and needed a pint, but there are better places to go for food in the area.
Also they make you pay before you sit down which is a bit strange.

The Canterbury Tales, Canterbury
Used to be really good (and 10% student discount). Under new ownership as of last year sometime and it's gone downhill fast. Waited ages to get served when there were only two others at the bar!

Nice place, quite large (for Basingstoke) and friendly staff, although there can sometimes be quite a queue for a drink.
Never been when it was really busy but on a weeknight it's not a bad place to frequent.

The best Wetherspoons I have ever been in. Non-smoking, large with a good (cheap) bar. You are always able to get a seat (even on a Friday night) and during the summer they have a seating area outside where you can drink your pint and sit next to the River Kennet.
Would you really expect that from a 'spoons?
Now open until midnight every night too!

Nice enough place that serves the usual array of lagers and other drinks. Not sure whether I'd eat there, but there is a large beer garden which is great to sit in in the summer and the quiz on a tuesday night is quite good fun too.
Expect to come home smelling of cigarettes, however.

The Slug and Lettuce, Wimbledon
This place isn't too bad to drink and the bar is big so you can quite easily get served. However it appears to be one of those places that attracts a certain type of drinker so might be an idea to avoid on fri/sat evening unless that's your thing.
Having said that food isn't anything to write home about, even when they are running a 50% off deal. Better to go to the chippy next door!
