From the outside - ordinary. Inside, a proper pub in all respects, bar one - not cask ales.
But there are bands on every week and owner Tracey is putting on a better choice than ever.
On Friday, 29th February 2015, at 9 p.m., Pond Life 'Classic punk Riding on a New Wave' will be surfacing for a rousing, all-action evening featuring all the punk favourites, which you can join in (dancing and singing), led by singer Psycho, the mercurial Wildsticks on the skins, Johnnie machine twanging the strings and Wacka running things from the back.
Yes, you've heard the music before, but not like this.

Great pub with good beer and food.
Live music on Tuesday evenings and on Tuesday, 10th February 2015 there will be something rather special and different with Pond Life 'Classic Punk Riding on a New Wave'. While not too loud, this will not be an evening for sitting in corner pontification over your pint. It will be there to get up and join in. Certainly a night to remember. Gangsters, druggies, scum, etc., etc. Seems just the pub for Pond Life 'Classic Punk Riding on a New Wave' Well, we all like a bit of church music, don't we?
So, here is your chance to get groovy down at the Grove Tavern with some splendidly innocent and beautiful music by Pond Life at the Grove Tavern on Saturday, 7th February 2015, from 9 p.m.. And then there's a rave up.

The Golden Eagle is getting back to its best and is known for putting on live music. The beer is much improved, too.
The band pond Life 'Classic punk Riding on a New Wave' is playing at the Eagle on Saturday, 24th January 2015, from 9 p.m. They had a really enjoyable and active gig at The Phoenix nearby last weekend, so go along to the Eagle and see it soaring to its new heights.

It is certainly not closed and is actively promoting live music.
