The Golden Eagle is getting back to its best and is known for putting on live music. The beer is much improved, too. The band pond Life 'Classic punk Riding on a New Wave' is playing at the Eagle on Saturday, 24th January 2015, from 9 p.m. They had a really enjoyable and active gig at The Phoenix nearby last weekend, so go along to the Eagle and see it soaring to its new heights. It should still be shut!!! The new landlord 'n' landlady are not very good host's to say the least. I don't go in anymore n everytime I walk past there's no-one in there. They lost the Mastercellarman award when Kate 'n' team left n doubt theyv'e got is back yet!! Shame, used to be a brilliant pub. Goldengirl666 - 21 Nov 2011 10:09 |

After drinking in the pub for 20 odd years, I have to agree that it certainly has seen ints ups and downs over the years. I cant agree that is on a downer again now though 'cause that simply isn't true.... Ok I'm sure they don't get it perfectly right for every customer, every time, but they certainly do their best and the majority of the locals would agree with me. As a tenancy the pub has little say in its pricing but they have introduced a discount club for regulars to help combat pricing issues. And as for the real ale, well they have recently been awarded the Master Cellar Man status by Fullers so I'm sure it can't be that bad. They have a great bar menu which offers real value for money, not your average 'pub grub' and have some of the best bands and entertainment on their line up on a weekly basis, for free.
