I think attempts have been made recently to get rid of the rowdy element, which seems to be a sport for some of the pubs in the area. Was not that busy in my mid-week visits, have the usual entertainmants on, quiz night, sport etc.

Seems to have attracted an unsavoury element in recent times, especially when football is on. Possibility down to the Bridgewater getting rid of excess.

The pub is currently not open as it has been closed down by the local Licensing authority due to a number of problems being encountered at the premises. It would therefore be unfair to post a review of my visits which were just prior to the closure order, as the pub was in a state of serious decline. It did receive a large amount of publicity around this in papers and TV.
It is due to reopen , minus things like Sky TV, Pool tables, DJ music, although its longer term future may be unclear. I will revisit in the near future.

Good local pub, choice of three guest beers. Does a good food trade and is very popular for it. Tends tio get busier at weekends evenings, although most people leave by 10 for the John Gilbert.

Thed pub has recently won pub of the year from its own company. Very spacious, has the distinct advantage of two lots of toilets, always room to move. Standard Jogn Barras food. A few people meet in here to go to the John Gilbert to get crushed later on, not sure why.

Very popular at all times, good food especially sundays. At weekend evenings it is open late and is too popular, queues to get in, the place is overcrowded at these times, you will have difficulty moving in the place.

Barton Arms, Stablefold
The previous comment by supporter is more than inaccurate. Ths pub has lost a lot of trade, especially local, since the new landlord came, the pub seems to have lost direction completely. Rumoured the landlord will not be there too much longer.
