The George and Dragon, Houghton
The sign outside tells us "the Duck is back!" Inside friendliness abounds, good Harveys ales, and a sound dinner menu of choice of 4 starters, mains and desserts. All served with a smile, and very tasty. Would come again

Agree with all said by Razor below, being a very traditional English pub, and the grub good quality but pretty standard. Fish dishes consisted of battered cod (large and small) and breaded plaice, and the meat dishes were all also pre-prepared. Given that it was very quiet as there was a quiz in the village hall, the landlord might have been a bit more welcoming, but overall was a reasonable evening's meal. I'd say average range of beers - Pride and Ringwoods + a couple of others.
It was not warm, and yet the big inglenook fire was not lit!

The George and Dragon, Shipley
Dinner for 4 on a Friday night hasnt't been this good in a long time! Sussex ales, good range of special meals, plus a decent regular menu, bags of atmosphere, and very helpful waiting staff all add up to a strong recommendation = 10 out of 10!

This pub has changed hands approx.mid August, and whilst the interior has remained the same - good old fashioned spacious pub + restaurant extension, the food has changed dramatically for the better!
From chefs who came and went, with high ideas and a too ambitious menu,. it's now got a Landlord and Landlady who care, and who prepare and cook the food in house. Fresh vegetables, lovely cottage pie were all very tasty, and served with a smile.
I'll go back again soon, and I thoruoghly recommend the Crown.

Visited here Tuesday night. Not busy, prices for food a little high, but main courses good. I had sea bass fillet, though, which was small, and on a bed of rice which was undercooked. Deserts were good - berry crumble with blackberry ice cream was excellent. Overall, pleasant athmosphere.

We visited on Saturday 19th July, and the food was superb! Excellent starters, my fisherman's pie was wonderful - large chunks of fish and plenty of it. The waitress service was very friendly, and the athmosphere in the restaurant, about 40 covers, very happy.
Only comment was that as the waiting staff were also helping out in the bar, it wasd a while before we could get our bill.

We took two friends here 2 days ago, and the service was excellent and very attentive. It was a Friday, and surprisingly quiet, but the restaurant was impeccably clean, and the food just as we'd ordered.
It has a big car park, but this is a few yards north, and there are spaces opposite the pub - a good idea.
We'll go again, and highly recommend it.

A very traditional Englosh pub with excellent traditional pub fayre. Badgers and Harveys on tap, togheter with friendly locals, a very helpful and courteous landlady, all create a relaxed and convivial atmosphere.
Good choice for starters, mains and dessert, no prolonged wait, so all in all, recommended.

We ate here a few weeks ago, and found all the waitresses to be extremely helpful and friendly. no sign of a rude waiter - apparently he was the barman who didn't like waiting at table! Conveniently half way between south London and the coast for meeting friends! Recommended.

A verey friendly pub - the landlord and his wife are very hospitable, and keen to talk to customers. A reasonable number of tables, and excellent food. smallish carpark, but a garden in the summer. highly recommended

We ate there last night, and the restaurant was very inviting, the service was excellent, and the food first class. Pumkin, Parsnip and bacon soup to die for! Fullers ales always on tap, and the car park is well laid out on the opposite side of the road, with amazing lighting, accessible footpatch into it - brilliant. highly recommended.

Excellent athmosphere, a wide menu to choose from, and well served. Landlord is friendly, and the two pog fires are very inviting in the winter. Quizes on a Sunday.

The Bridge Inn, Amberley
The Bridge continues to be the most consistently excellent pub for both food and drink in the area. Car enthusiasts should look out for landlord Dave's MG Midget in the car park. Wide range of meals available, all served with a smile. Chef is keen to talk with customers later on their experiences, and there's a nice garden for that summer afternoon and evening. I'll keep returning.
